Arrow header only install. Is remapping needed?

I'm looking to install an Arrow header on my '14 ST. Has anyone installed one and NOT had to remap in any way? Its going to be the header only and the stock exhaust can will remain.

My purpose for doing this is to maximize ground clearance by eliminating the catzlyzer so it won't get damaged or destroyed. I really dont want to start screwing around with remapping/tuning as the bike runs fine for my purposes as is.

I've done a search on this forum but I could not locate any specific results on this subject.

Comments/experiences appreciated.

Thanks!

I've done it recently. Headers plus Akrapovic. Love the new sound. I have to say it's surging a bit while commuting at lower rpm's, but nothing drastic. The pull vs stock is muuuch stronger.
I bought them, cause I smashed the stock ones.

I have the identical setup as what you want to do. ('14, arrow header with stock exhaust, and no re-map) Over 5000 miles like that. Runs like a top and stronger than stock.

Eliminating the cat solely for ground clearance isn't a reason. The cat rides above any skid pan you install, as well as the center stand. I won't say an impact is impossible, but it sure is unlikely. The skin of the cat itself is an armor as well, much stouter than the exhaust pipe material, it's protection for the delicate innards. A de-cat is pretty much always for a tuning improvement, and you pretty much need a better muffler and an ecu reflash to make that happen.
What skid pan have you/are you installing?
