I don't mind waiting. It seems like a bunch of inmates are going to be changing right away. So there is plenty to go around I bet. ;)

I doubt that many will really change the tires right away, unless they are sure that they are going to be spending a lot of time off road right away.

Me ;)

Not to beat a dead horse but I have spent a few miles on my Multistrada on only gravel roads and the wrong tires make it a whole lot less fun. I am not looking to do a single track run but I know a 60/40 tire will be better for me. Considering the thousands of $'s we have been discussing in farkles, $300 or so in tires to have that "perfect" feel seems like a bargin to me. I just don't want to run 3 or 4 thousand miles on the stock tires just to run them out. I believe motocephalic had first dibs
;D

I stay in the city and usually do about 50kms to get to good country dirt roads. So far the 70/30 stock tires do the trick for me. However, on more than one occasion I noticed the front end to be a bit vague on proper grip. As if there is a slight front end drift on corugated dirt roads at speed more than 120kms per hour. Well I solved that part as well, because the standard air preasure is way to high for dirt road. Brought it down to about 1.3 bar and no problems ever again. Will probably settle for a 60/40 arrangement some time in the future.

I plan to take them off before the bike leaves the dealer. I want to try the MEFO's or Conti trail attacks.

I had the Conti Trail Attack on my '07 BMW R12GS Adventure. WOW! Great tire!! I think you'll like it both on and off road. My current tires on my F800GS are the Heidenau brand. 9500 miles and loving every minute! They took me to Colorado and back as well as over all the passes outside of Ouray in the dirt. The F8 came with the same Bridgestone the Yamaha comes with. Frankly, they were fine on road but down right scary off road.

I'll grind off the stock ones during break in and go from there. I used to order tires for new bikes, never even ride them with stock tires, just swap them, out. I have slowed down some since then. often, I found what I thought I wanted really wasn't what I needed after I rode the bike a while. I really like the Dunlop D606s on my WRR, but I doubt I'll go that aggressive on this heavy a bike. My guess is two week tire life if you get too carried away.

Sounds as if demand will be higher than supply for brand-new, original, as installed by Yamaha, restoration quality, Battlewing take-offs. I should be able to trade them out almost break even. Ha Ha :))

Hmm.....new Battlewings go for about $245 shipped. I should be able to get about $225 shipped (sounds fair to me) around here and buy myself...let's see, maybe Karoos for about $320 shipped. Or maybe TKC's for about the same price, or maybe I'll just get some Tourances for a little less.

So much time to decide..unfortunately. I need some pressure to do so.

Not sure about the 1200 but the 1100 doesn't like anything but pavement regardless. :'(

So if it was a "local sale" you'd probably be willing to let them go for about $150 - right?

;D

If a good friend was selling them, you'd probably willing to pay him about $200 - right?

;D

We'll talk once the bikes arrive, OK?
