Are S10 50 states ie: california legal?

I am looking at a bike from outside CA and I am wondering if the S10 are 50 states or if there is a specific model for CA?

I believe the cut off is 7500 miles is case the bike is 49 states.

Any insight is welcome.

Yamaha has 49 state and specific California models.

California model has charcoal canister connected to gas tank. About bringing a 49-state bike to Cali, I read low mileage bikes aren't a problem if they're inherited.

Correct info so far. If you want to register a 49 state bike in CA, first it needs to have over 7500 miles on it, and you should have the vin run thru CA DMV to make sure it's not already banned there. On rare occasions someone will get caught trying to skirt the rules and that bike can never be registered in CA again. I know of one such case personally. It's incredibly rare though.

If you're buying an already registered used bike from out of state, you really have no issues as long as it shows up at DMV with 7500+ miles on it. Just make sure the seller doesn't put a mileage down on the paperwork that is under 7500.

I know when I registered an out of state bike in CA the bike had to be inspected against the title. So it isn't enough to just write a milage above 7500 on the title.
I definitely didn't tamper with the odometer to increase the milage of a bike I had recently purchased before being aware of that law.

I have done the DMV vin verification process before, I'm familiar with the process.
I'm picking it up tomorrow... can't wait.
