dear riders
i am going to take delivery of a black 2012 yamaha xt1200z super tenere sometime in the near future . i am going to buy a full set of black trax alu boxes - two side cases and the 38L top case for the yamaha . the 45L side case measures 19.3"X11"X14.6" . the 37L side case measures 19.3"X9.1"X14.6" . my helmet of choice is the new arai xc ram 3/4 open face helmet . the helmet is on order and i do not know its length width or height . my question is -- will the arai xc ram helmet fit inside either the 45L sw motech side case and/or will it fit in the 37L side case ? i will be carrying two helmets most of the time . it would be nice if the side cases could store the helmets -- one on each side . my guess is the swm 45L alu box side case is just wide enough to contain the arai xc ram open face helmet . but the 37L may not be quite wide enough . i can also store one arai xc ram in the 38L top box . but i will not always ride with the 38L top box attached . if the arai xc ram fits inside the 45L side case and NOT inside the 37L side case then i will order 45L side cases for both the left and right side of the yamaha super tenere . if the arai helmet does fit inside the 37L side case then i will purchase a 37L side case for the left side of the bike ( exhaust side ) and a 45L side case for the right side of the bike . the latter arrangement is recommended by some as having a more balanced look ( although the difference is only two inches) . the arai xc ram open face helmet may not fit in either side case . actually placing the helmet inside both size side cases would be the only reliable way to tell . please offer your thoughts on this dilemma . thank you .
