Wow you definitely have a long range plan ! Are you planning to ride your bike home from Tuktoyaktuk ?

We definitely don’t have long range plans like you ! Tenere Guy mentioned Tuktoyaktuk to us December 11th that’s what got the Tuktoyaktuk ball rolling, Guy mentioned July 23rd and that’s about all I know right now. Are you planning to get a motel somewhere around Whitehorse on the way up ?
We all rode together to Prudehoe Bay a couple years ago.

All I can say is sign up to the Dempster Highway FB page (lots of good information) and book your hotels on the Dempster quickly; FYI I'm not retired yet so do not have any flexibility thus the early planning and the Fly @ Ride option hopefully our paths will cross !

Well think I found the Facebook group you recommended, saw your post asking about the Dempster and tires, lots of different opinions, when we did Tuktoyaktuk I was using Metzler Tourance tires, had three flats I will never buy another set, I am a big fan of Dunlop TrailMax Mission they will last longer than any other motorcycle tire I have ever used. Rode to Deadhorse a few years ago on Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires, about 10,000 miles round trip and after I got home the missions looked like they could do the trip again, so far I’ve worn out three sets with with a little over 20,000 miles on each set.

I have selected the Motoz Tractionator GPS tires for the trip there closer to a 50/50 tire vs the Dunlop's who i believe is a 70/30 (but they where on the list) I was also considering the Mitaz E07 Dakar thanks for your input.

I ran a set of Mitas Dakar, didn’t have any problems with them but they were wore out after 12,000 miles and the Missions handle a little better.
When the Dunlop TrailMax Mission first came out they were supposed to be a 50/50 tire but that later got changed to 60/40

Cycledude the tires I end up using will be for the trip only so +/- 8000 KM will probably revert back to the OEM Bridgestone's after the trip which are awesome on asphalt any thoughts on the Tractionator GPS, they where suggested by TenereGuy

If you look at the thread from our trip to Prudehoe Bay-Deadhorse a couple years ago you will see pictures of Tenere Guys rear tire with some lugs missing, luckily he was carrying a spare rear tire and we were able to change it in a gas station parking lot, Tenere Guy is a pretty aggressive rider and loves those tires. I have a local friend that rode to Deadhorse last year using those same tires and the same thing happened, those tires got recalled and they would have shipped my friend a brand new tire after he got home but he said he didn’t want it.

I'd be interested to see what/if any changes have happened up there since my 2018 trip. Tuk didn't have any real infrastructure for travelers then, I set a tent up right next to the Arctic Ocean sign.

Mitas E-07 tires were my choice, don't recall exactly what model but I put them on fresh in San Diego and rode to Anchorage and then up to Tuk, down the Cassier and all the way to my parents place in Minnesota before replacing the rear tire with a Shinko 705. The front went to the East Coast and back to San Diego with 15-17,000 miles, I can't remember now.

My daughter moved back to Anchorage so I hope to travel up there again. Super Tenere was a great bike for the trip but if I plan a trip I might just buy a disposable machine (KLR650).

The International Association of Pavement Pounders held an emergency Tribunal and nixed my idea of riding the 950 round trip miles of gravel, AKA, Mud, between Dawson and Tuk.

Yeah I heard that there have been issues with the tires - I will re circle the tire choice, maybe go with the Mitas ?

Sounds like Tntmoto put some incredible miles on his Mitas tires !
I‘m still a big fan of the Dunlop TrailMax Missions.

A big issue for me riding the Dempster was the road grading, they often leave a ridge of loose gravel about a foot tall and they blend in so well that they can be very difficult to see, you really don’t want to hit one of those ridge’s unexpected !
