Anyone interested in a CB antenna mount?

I have the SW-MOTECH luggage rack.

I'm having MCL make one for me that should be similar to the one on my ST1300. It looks like with a longer countersunk bolt and some minor changes to his current ST1300 offering, it will work fine and give you the option of a short bracket or longer one to clear any top box. This works well on the ST1300.

Anyway, I thought I would gauge the interest to see if he should make a few of these. I run a CB on my bikes because I like that setup, I don't care for FRS for my purposes.

Joe - I am very interested. I was going to look into the possibility of the ST1300 bracket working on the Super T. I plan on adding the J&M CB2003 unit on my Super T. I am also looking into a bracket to mount the J&M unit on the handlebar.

The other idea I had for the antenna was a small right angle bracket that would mount to one of the rear hand grip bolts.

BTW - have you had any water leaking into your GIVI Trekkers? My bike sat through a heavy rain at work Monday, and I had a pretty large puddle of water in each bag (33L on left & 46L on right side). That pissed me off.

I'll get the parts from MCL in a couple days. I'll drill holes in them where necessary. I think he's sending me 2 sets so I'll modify both and then send him one of them so he can mill it where it needs to be and make any adjustments. The ST1300 mounts are in the $25-35 range and easy to install so I'm thinking that will be similar for these. He has his own milling machines so we can probably get away with a small production number if the demand is low. I don't see all that many wanting a CB on their bike.

However, the 'double' option would allow a platform for hyperlites.

Hmmmm, not good! I've never had a Givi bag leak. Any idea where it is getting in? Are the clamps for the alternate opening firmly latched?

I'm w/Rod, never had a Givi with a leak issue at all. I'll take mine off and give them a good water test to see. Probably a good idea to keep some type of waterproof bags as insurance but I wasn't planning on that being an issue... I'll give them a good splash today... if the water doesn't evaporate before it hits the bags.

I got the Yamaha Cruiser mount from J&M. It's chrome but you barely see any of it so don't get too anxious LOL.

Some Pics:

I got some material from MCL today that's for the ST1300. I used a hacksaw to cut the spacers down to 1/3 of what they were. I had to order some M8x50 countersunk stainless steel bolts so I took what I had and marked them at about 2.25 inches just to see if that would be long enough.

I'm going to see if MCL an mill out some spacers with a larger inner diameter so the washers won't be necessary.

The mount is pretty solid and the double mount is the one I used if you had a top box but the single could also be used if you only ever want to carry a tailbag.

I'll update this once MCL gets me some updated parts.

Joe - thanks for the info. I figured there was one that would work (even if it needed a little modification).

I'm not sure where it got in from. But both bags had water in them from sitting through a heavy rain. When I get back from Sturgis I'll have to put a bright flash light inside the bag to see I can "spot" the gap. I suspect it is coming in around the handle well.

Joe,

Are there any issues with moving the mirror forwrd like contacting the screen? I will be moving the CB2003 to my Tenere at some point and the cruiser mount look like a good option. I think I will run down a button head screw for a lower profile as it kinda looks like it might block the one button on the J&M unit.

Since we had the handles apart to change the lock tumblers, I wonder if we mis-located a seal somewhere during the re-install?

Not at all, you can turn full lock and nothing touches w/stock shield on the high setting.

Here's what I ended up with. I'm not planning on using a top box with this bike at the moment so I went with the shorter arm. However, I have the longer one as well. It had some flex to it but it wasn't much more than the one on my ST1300 so I think either would work find.

Here's some pics w/antenna and wiring installed.

I am still trying to figure out the antenna mount. I have the OEM top box and rack so what you have won't work for me. Will prolly go with an aluminum plate so I can incorporate the Head Guardian locks. I copied the cruiser handlebar mount in 1/8 inch aluminum hoping it is stiff enough to not induce vibration in the left mirror. Did manage to run down a M10x1.25 dome head screw.
