The biggest thing for me to help knee pain was to sell my Suzuki SV1000S and buy the Tenere :) Still a little on the ST very occasionally, it mostly seems to be from having constant tension from the quads pushing out on lower leg to support some weight with your legs and feet and sitting still for long periods of time, especially if your butt is sore and you are trying to get a little weight off your butt, by pushing with your legs. The sitting still seems to be a major component also because I can ride a trials or enduro bike all day, mostly standing up, without my knees and legs bothering me a bit. So getting a seat that doesn't bother you so that you aren't constantly pushing with your feet to ease the pain in your butt could help, I have the corbin on my ST.

My knees are wore too. About every hour I slow down to about 50 and do 15-25 squats/knee bends. gets the circulation in my ass working again and stretches the legs. I go all day with this routine.

The only knee pain I get is after disappearing for a few days on the Tenere....and begging forgiveness when I get home from "She Who Must Be Obeyed"....
Other than that, all is well in Tenereville.....

As the ole' Orthopedic surgeon said of static knee positioning after knee replacement, "if it's still, it's gonna hurt when it moves again." And that was true before the replacement job too. From a former runner and weight lifter, arthritis in any joint, no matter how small it is can creep up and make the joint feel pretty bad when you are motionless for any length of time. Standing on the pegs on the FJR is an every 1/2 hour ritual now. The S10 is about an hour out. Riding the couch is worse than both. I'm not real old but, I've earned every mile. Probably not the best example for knee pain. Just my $.02.

Ha ha - great post. From all the input it's clear I can make a few changes. Need to move more frequently, and I also think the mesh pant liners do put pressure on the knee that exacerbates things. Not to mention I do some weird pivots, hops and extensions on my left leg getting on and off the darn thing to begin with due to being slightly height-challenged. Need to center stand it more and use the left peg to mount up.

Thanks for all the input.

Exactly what I do as well. I also do shoulder shrugs and other stretches when perched on the bike for long days. Biggest thing is to get the circulation going before I ride with some basic stretches and simple exercises to get the blood flowing.
Keep in shape guys!
