Just for fun I zoomed in on north America member map and was quite surprised to see the representation of st10 owners throughout the us and Canada. We might very well have a cult following going. Well, not really but it's cool to see the numbers in pictorial form.

Can help thinking how often I'll be waving to a fellow TEnere owner. Congrats to all.

I don't know any females riding adventure bikes, probably because they're too tall. I know some that ride dirt bikes that would kick my ass though.

I notice there are very few Canadian "members". My Dealer also tells me that I am the only Super Tenere he has on order. Perhaps Canadians are not jumping on the S10 bandwagon..

That is likely due to the facts that 1) there are substantially fewer of us up here all around, 2) our riding season is generally much shorter than you more southerly folk, and 3) because we are Canadian, Yamaha has bestowed us with the honor of paying an additional $2,500 over U. S. price.

Silly Yamaha. I guess they thought that would be an incentive.

Hey, the Canadian dollar was a buck .03 as of yesterday. And if it makes you feel any better, we've been paying 5 bucks a U. S. gallon for gas for a very long time. That should perk you up.

Send money. RR

Don't certain provinces also have very high registration fees for cycles? I think I heard that about Quebec.

I suspect that is the case. There are some outrageous taxes associated with some of the more heavily populated provinces. Yukon and Alberta pretty well have the lowest taxes and such in the entire country. B. C. residents pay a combined federal and provincial tax of almost 20 % (I'm guessing but close) on virtually everything they buy.

Yukon is pretty good that way. It is actually a federal jurisdiction, not like the provinces. We still belong to the crown. But there are only about 30,000 of us in the entire Territory. Sometimes that works to our advantage.

The biggest disadvantage is the ridiculously short riding season. But there are quite a few bikes up here. Five dealerships that sell bikes ... Yamaha, Honda, Victory, Suzi-Kawa, Harley. They all sell other stuff except for Harley.

Come on up. You'd feel right at home. Late May, June, July, early August. R

Sorry. It appears that the HST (harmonized sales tax) in B. C. is about 12%, but on top of that, they pay an additional tax on just about anything you can imagine. It's an expensive place to live. R

Here's one for you. My wife on her DL650. Taught her to ride almost 25 years ago and she can beat most guys I've seen in a set of twisties.

dirt_dad & motocephalic,

You are both fortunate to have wives who are active in your love of motorcycling (and others on the forum as well)! :)

I got lucky/ blessed. 32 years ago she use to ride on the back, then 10 years ago I was worried about her being able to get back should something happen to me. Perfect timing as the kids left the nest, she has been riding her own since. ;D

+1 - I took my wife around the block as a passenger once. That was about 5 years ago. I'm ok with that, personally I don't like riding 2-up; cramps my riding style, but it would be cool if she had her own bike. I don't bring it up or push it in any way, I just go for my own rides. ;D

My wife refuses to ride 2-up. I think we've done it twice in 25 years. I taught her to ride on her brand new XT350 about a year after we got married. As the years went by her bikes progressively got smaller, Kawi Super Sherpa 250 then all the way down to a TTR-125. I was against getting her something that small, but I was wrong. She learned to ride the wheels off that little thing. Learned to jump and even kept up with me more than I'd like to admit when riding tight stuff, and I was on a KTM 520. She gained so much confidence on that bike that even today she often gets off a challenging ride and says "I'm so happy I learned in the dirt."

I've ridden with a lot of guys on twisty roads. She can smoke 80% of them on her DL650. She's an awful good rider and I'm glad to have her with me on most of my rides.

The day she learned to jump.
