Anybody have a service manual, or at least know how the high beams work?

In another thread we are trying to figure out how to dim the new VisionX Solstice Prime LED lights by using the high beam switch.

I need to know if the "eyelid" high beam design of the S10 acts differently from a "usual" high beam set up, where flipping the high beam switch to on sends a constant voltage to a second bulb or filament. I'm hoping it's constant, but it could be acting "solenoid" style, where only a pulse is generated to flip the eyelid up and down, with no constant signal available.

Anybody have an idea?

I can't tell you for sure, but can tell you it is the same as the Yamaha R1. So if you go to an R1 forum, you could get a fast answer.

I have the complete service manual but would not know where to look to find the information you need. If you can tell me exactly what I'm looking for I may be able to find it. My knowledge of electrical stuff leaves much to be desired.

See if there is a section for "Electrical." Look in there for a "lighting wiring diagram" or something similar. Then, if you find that, tell me what the wire coming out of the high beam switch goes to.

I have to imagine that the "eyelid" component is 12v and requires constant signal to operate. I just can't see it being otherwise since the additional complexity just wouldn't be worth it.

would the high beam switch possibly be called "dimmer switch?" I can't find anything called high beam switch in the list

According to schematic #84 circuit looks like low beam(#73) is Y1, and high beam is(#74) Y. I can send you a scan if you need one, let me know. I know little about circuitry.

Tizz a constant current Venture.
I have my VisionX tapped directly to the high-beam supply wire.

Greg.
Perfect. In that case I have the dimmer circuit for the Solstice Primes all figured out. It's nothing more than an inverter and a resistor that are in line with one another.

Is there by chance a regular headlight plug at the end of the high beam supply wire that connects to the headlight unit? My hope is to source regular headlight connectors and then the dimmer install is plug-n-play.

Goes without saying Venture, but if you nail an easy, no non-sense way to wire these up, will you please post idiot proof instructions for us, well you know, electrical idiots? ;D

Yes, and will this eliminate the need to purchase the dimming module??????

Yes, that would be the idea.

You would still need a dimming module though, just not any of the ones they are currently offering.
