With the OEM side and top cases being plastic is it possible to attach stuff to them? Like tool tubes, Rotopax or fuel canisters etc? Also how do you tie down your gear to the tops of the OEM side cases when you travel without footman loops on them? If you have pics of stuff mounted on your stock cases please post them up. Thanks.

No pictures but the one time I fastened soft bags w/handles to the top of the side cases I used the front and rear handles of the side cases. Used four tie-straps on each side case and they worked well.

Going through plastic, I would think you need some pretty good sized washers to disperse the load so as not to crack the cases.

I actually used 25mm wide aluminium strip on both in and out and used the handle to 'clamp' the aluminium strip to the box, that way the load is spread, I also don't put anything heavy or likely to rip the loops off, and I also used the loops to lock my helmet to the top of the box when wandering.

No pix... but very straightforward. See my earlier post in this thread (copied below)

Many here have installed footman loops onto the OEM boxes. Dremel out the inner ribs and use some silicone caulk to seal the footman loop bases.

Plenty of old threads out there for details.

Got my footman loops in black here - http://www.strapworks.com/Metal_Footman_Loop_p/mfl.htm

Yes - 1" Black Anodized Metal Footman Loops - Item # MFL-b from http://www.strapworks.com/

If you attempt this mod, be sure to carefully visualize your footman hole locations so that you get as little interference from the ribs inside the lid. You cannot avoid them all but when needed, you can take a dremel tool and knock out just enough to give clearance for the backside hardware. I used washers and nylock nuts - all in stainless.

Perfect. Any pics of how you secured on the inside? And where did you buy your Footman loops?

Nice! Where did you find those grip pads? Did you have to cut them to fit?

Curious... you have posted two different links for the MLF loops. Both show the price as $.82 with one of the links includes an additional $.38 cost. Is there a difference in the products, or ? Huh!

No clue. Bought them so long ago. Strapworks has likely changed web links or the like.

Nevertheless, I bought black footmen from Strapworks that are quite nice. The mounting holes are right at 2" apart by tape measure. I found my online receipt in my email and the part number was MFL-b and the cost was $0.82.
