I read thru the various methods for locking a helmet on the Tenere, but decided to do my own thing. I was just looking for a hook under the front seat to attach a helmet D ring, but there of course isn't one, so I made my own. I bent up a small piece of steel, drilled a hole, and bolted it to an existing left side frame bolt. I have a short steel cable (maybe 5" long) with a loop on each end, left over from an XR650L Honda. I just leave the cable on the hook all the time. Remove the front seat, run cable thru D rings, and loop the end back over the hook. Reinstall seat. Done. It's not super secure, but it's simple, and I don't have to carry another key, or long cable around with me all the time.

Strange how we look for all manner of technical solutions to an apparent problem. I looked for special locks and stuff and then my wife said 'Why don't you just use the mini cable lock over there?'

Hmmm well yeah I was coming to that next ::) :D

So that's what I do .... mini plastic covered HTS cable lock around the frame. Light and as effective as you can get until the bandits turn up with heavy duty cutters ..... ya da ya da ya

BTW your mod looks good and you probably had fun fabricating it. So job well done ::008::
