I have adjusted my shift by using the vertical rod and locking nuts, however would I have been better to simply have adjusted it by moving the upper part on the spindle? (if you know what I mean!)
Thanks
Rob

As long as you have it set for you and is comfortable, then it makes no difference.

I would do what you did. I think, but not 100%, that if you move the position on the spline of the output shift rod you may affect the amount of torque/ leverage placed on the shaft, and this may in turn make it harder to shift?

correct. Adjusting the length of the linkage rod also effects the leverage ratio slightly as it changes the angle of the shifter, but this is insignificant. (it's probably insignificant either way actually, but much easier to screw the linkage in/out)
