Well after a bit of a wait and 2 days of frantic spanner work by the dealer, i picked up my 2014 ZE yesterday. I must admit, they did a superb job with her.

Nice S10! I love a white bike (said the owner of a white '13 ::013::). Enjoy the new ride!

The bike looks great and I like the touratech engine bars. I have a grey S10 and would like those type of bars but I can't make my mind up between the stainless finish or the black, stainless certainly suits your bike ::008::

If the white was offered here in the US with the '14's, I would have chose that color. We only get it in Blue and Grey/Black for the '14s. Nice bike!

Well after a week of riding her, time for a few adjustments and enhancements. Firstly, the bars were rotated forward and up. Gives a much better riding position.

Next, the levers were swapped with some shiny billet ones from "The 2 Wheels on ebay. I used their levers on my Triumph and was very impressed with them.

Another thing I had noticed, was the hand guards seemed a little low. I could quite easily feel cold air on the back of my hands on my morning commute. Its not too bad now, but in December and January, its going to be quite noticeable. I tried rotating them higher, but the right hand mirror arm contacts the throttle cables. I suppose I will have to dismantle the twist grip and file out the little peg. In the mean time, I swapped over the left and right mounting plates and mounted them upside down. This works, but the bottom mount no longer fits. Does seem to offer an easy solution though.

I also found a rear brake pedal extended on ebay. This was also fitted. A nice easy job.

I fitted a little coin pouch that I had on the Tiger. I found this really useful to keep a few £s in small change easily available. Ideal for paying toll bridges or if I need to buy an emergency coffee. ;) This uses double sided velcro wrapped around the brake cylinder to hold it in place.

Finally, I did the seat mod. Instead of fitting a low height bung to the seat tab, [iI wrapped it in some more of the velcro. Provides the required "padding" to the tab, but without any permanent holes needing to be drilled.

My Altrider rack bag from Brady on ADVrider arrived during the week. I gave it a couple of coats of Fabsil to waterproof it before fitting. I now have plenty of space for a couple of Rok Straps, some bungees and my Xena alarmed disc lock. It bulges a bit from the size of the lock, but everything is neatly tucked out of sight.

Time for a few small mods, especially now the dark nights are here.

Firstly I wanted to eliminate all non LED lamps apart from the main headlights. Fortunately, there aren't many to do. I sourced some 12V 5W push in LED replacements from Amazon for a mere pittance. I chose white for the number plate light and blue to replace the front side lights. Hopefully these will be a little more conspicuous during the morning commute.

Fitting the fronts took a tad longer than anticipated, as it meant removing the screen, the air deflector below the screen and complete removal of the headlight assembly.

Anyway, its done now and being LED, they shouldn't ever need replacing.

Next it was replacing the stock headlight bulbs with the Osram Nightbreakers. These definitely seem to be the top choice for lamps on a number of different forums. A brief spin this evening confirmed why. Yay, these are bright.

Finally, I replaced the cheap plastic oil filler cap with something a little more blingy.

Some piccies for you.

One of my cheapo LED side lights died a few days ago. Not overly worried, as they only cost £3 a pair on Amazon, but it is a right pain to remove the headlight assembly to replace them. I decided therefore to install something of higher quality. After much searching, I decided on the Osram 2850CW-02B 1W LED.

I must say this was a vast improvement over the no-name items I had before. Even in daylight, they were bright and eye catching. Come the evening, they are stunning.

These are highly recommended. Lets hope they last OK. :D
