Let's assume it. Yamaha has no interest in users like us, with a big bike +1000 cc. OK Yamaha I got it. There are many other brands. For example, look at this beauty

Moto Guzzi v100 Mandello. Isn't it a beauty? This is the road version and Guzzi says they will launch an adventure version in 2023. Very good, I am not in any hurry at all. It seems to me that my new bike won't be a Yamaha.

I want a TFT display with Apple CarPlay and Android auto. I want a lower first gear ratio and I want a off switch for the ABS for safety. Not much to ask for.
What is it people would want from a new T12? I like that its a fairly basic bike with some creature comforts like shaft drive and tubeless wheels. Its a good bike that can do it all reasonably well. My only real complaints are nit picky crap like a more comfy seat and less wind noise

As a user of the latest tech, I can say I really like it. But I also acknowledge there is a downside. My skills have changed and I do things I would never have done before. That's fine, as long as you stay with modern hi-tech bikes, but it can also bite you.

On my modern bike I have no hesitation to aggressively downshift to the point I'll be at very high RPMs once I go down there. No problem with a slipper clutch and MTC kicking in. Awesome engine braking. I did a much milder downshift on a loaned Harley bagger last year and even easing out the clutch the back tire locked up on me. Was not expecting that. I think I'm losing my normal bike skills.

At the moment I have no tech-light bikes in the garage. My 690 was the last to go of that generation. The next dirt bike will have more tech than my current big bike. I may just become trapped with just high-tech bikes.

I have not seen any improvement in 5G over 3G. And my 5G phone is trash.
You won't really the step up was 4g. Thing with 5g is there is Low Band, Medium Band and High Band. People are somewhat mislead as the specs the providers quote tend to be the High Band which has a short range ( that's why you see the transmitters in high density areas ) where as Low Band has a much greater range and the specs are more akin to 4g. Mostly you will be picking up Low Band. For the record i live in London and the reception is crap.

. . . . High Band which has a short range ( that's why you see the transmitters in high density areas ) where as Low Band has a much greater range . . . .
So, I'm guess we're talking "frequencies" with "bands"? On the sub we could pick up low freqs at a much greater range than low freqs.

Yes lower fregs have a longer range but carry less data than higher freqs. The band's refer to bandwidth. Like AM Radio which is Mono compared with FM whis is Stereo.

When I was questioning why Yamaha put the oil filter as the first thing that would touch ground on a bike that was intended to go off road, CW said that the engine may have come from a watercraft or ATV/UTV. If that is true, that could indicate that Yamaha wasn't sure if it wanted to go "all in" on the then new-ish ADV market.
...
I remember that was the speculation back in the day when BMW was marketing 1200 engines for fire pumps and other engine uses. Doesn't look like it ever came to be.

Personally I don’t think yamaha have any intention of returning to the big adventure market . The Bmw and KTMs have just about sewn that market up. The cost to develop a model that really competes would be huge, they tried it once and even after 10 or more years I doubt they’ve seen much profit yet. And its not helped by bmw updating every two or three years. Yam would buy a new 1250, use it to help design a new S10 over a couple of years and by the time they release it, bmw would release a new 1300/1350 moving everything on another chunk. Its exactly what happened with the current S10. It was built to compete with the hexhead gs, but just a few months after its release bmw launched the twin cam, and the S10 just didn’t compare, on paper anyway. And then it was only another few years and they went watercooled and moved the posts even further on.
The real shame is Yam never developed the engine/running gear of the S10 into other variants. A supermoto model would have been so easy to develop, as would a tdm style sports tourer version. And even a naked model, along the lines of the RnineT would have been possible too.
