A friend donated to me a 20% worn Anakee III 6 months ago. Just returned from Greece to Germany with rear tyre worn out, glad to have a free replacement waiting for me. But now I check, it's a 140, not a 150. It came off an F800GS.

I know it will probably work, and I'll get at least 8000 miles out of it... but should I use it? I guess there's no harm in trying - if it sucks I can swap it for a new one somewhere on the way. Anyone used one?

never used that particular tire Trevor,
but I've installed two or three 140 width Mitas E-07s without issue.

the F800 has a rear 17" rim correct? :D

Yeah it's the same size, load range etc as the 150, but H rated - normally I'd use the V rated Anakee III, but I've used plenty of H-rated Heidenaus, it's not an issue. Rarely over 80mph.

No sweat. Just stay clear of mud and sand. Knowing that you like an occasional fast corner, be aware that you can ride off the side of the treaded area.

Yeah tire is on, no problem. Turn-in is maybe a little faster, than with the 150, which is not a bad thing, and maybe a little less rubber on the road at full lean, but rarely go there so all good.

Just thinking, the baby GS had a rear option I think, 140/80 or 150/70, so I think you should be fine, barely noticeable.

Each to their own; personally I run OEM or the tyre manufactures recommendation, to avoid any potential hassle from my insurers
