Went to the auto parts store tonight to buy some oil and a filter to do an oil change with.
As I browsed the available oils on the shelf, it was as if an oil thread began in my head. I found myself spending way too much time figuring out which oil I wanted. Synthetic. Mineral. What weight?
Just for grins, went over to the motorcycle oil section and noticed they had Valvoline 20-50 that meets JASO and API requirements set out by Yamaha on sale for $3.99/quart. I was sold!
Bosch 3300 oil filter for $4.99. Again, sold!
I have Yamalube gear oil leftover from the last change, so I'm all set there.
$21 later, I was out the door with all I needed for my oil change. ::022::
So, now tell me why Valvoline isn't as good as Castrol, Rotella, Yamalube, etc.
And when will my bike blow up from not using an OEM oil filter? ::025::
