: I had a rather loud and very annoying engine noise in my first GTL. It sat at the dealership for six weeks last summer while they tried to figure out what the noise was. First they thought cam chain tensioner and replaced it, but didn't get rid of the noise. Later on they had a BMW rep listen to it and he heard the noise, but didn't know what it was from or how to fix it. He finally said to just ride the bike and if it broke they (BMW) would fix it. I fixed it myself by selling the bike, unfortunately my new GTL is developing a similar noise only slightly higher in the rpm band.

I wrote BMWNA for help but never heard a word back. I wish you luck in your efforts to get your bike fixed, you will need it.

The above was a copy and paste from the K1600 BMW group and this is the norm not the exception ! Post after post after post about $700-1000 bill for the scheduled services, broken bikes, bikes that won't run, 3-5000 miles on a set of $700 tires etc. man-oh-man that BMW kook-aid is some strong stuff. Sure glad I found this Jap crap I ride now. ::015::
