I was probably one of the first who had, or noticed, the problem with the Altrider skidplate on the 2014 models. I bought the skidplate with the bike at my local dealer and had it installed prior to picking the bike up. Got home and noticed the skidplate was making contact with the catalytic converter. I brought it to the attention of the dealer and Altrider. They examined it and talked together. Altrider was going to redesign the skidplate and/or the bracket, I was told. In the meantime the dealer elongated the mounting holes of the bracket on mine, allowing it to hang a little lower. This prevented routine contact, but is certainly not a good solution as if the skidplate strikes an object (its sole purpose in life) it can be pushed up into the cat.
Today I inquired as to how the redesign is going after a couple months and was told the new version will be ready to ship in 10 days. They said the new one will provide clearance for the cat and side stand mount. They will also have the bracket available by itself for those who are switching their skidplate from Gen 1 to the 2014. I have no information about what exactly is different about the new bracket, nor whether or not they would help me and others like me (who found out the hard way that the bracket does not work on the 2014) by trading us up to the version that works on our bikes without causing damage. I will report on that when i hear.

If anyone cares, I have the Altrider skidplate on my 2014, and to eliminate clearance issues and increase performance I installed the Arrow header. Fits perfectly.

I took another route. I asked Jaxon to fabricate a RideOnAdv skid plate for my 2014 with stock exhaust so now he has the measurements needed to kick out another one or a hundred. Mine should arrive early next week for installation. :)

Great news as I am buying a 2014 non ES as soon as I hit Seattle after years in Afghanistan as a contractor...then to Altrider for protection and a month later to Mexico 2up. Any idea how much ground clearence you lose on the 2014 version as I will have to negotiate thousands of topes down south (speed bumps). We are 2 up and even with a stiff Yacuter rear shock will scrape again and again.

I see discounting of 2014 ST is finally happening at dealers....anyone know when the 2015s come out and if there are any changes?
