This looks like fun. Wish I could make it but some of you may want to go.

Most of us will never race the Dakar, but this February 24-26, you will have the opportunity to join a limited number of adventure riders to meet, train and ride with one of only two Americans to ever finish on the podium of the Dakar: Jimmy Lewis.

A little out of my way. Too bad, looks like a great time. Take pictures and let us know how it goes.

I went. It was good...nice to meet one of our board members on the only other ST there (in a group of about 50 BMWs, heheh). This was the first time I'd taken the ST off road...had my Conti TKC80 on the front, so it was pretty damn good I gotta admit. (Be sure to lower the air pressure on both ends to about 25 though...otherwise it's gonna be scary). The "Scenic" i.e. Beginner trail was quite difficult in some spots...deep sand, tall whoops...so good thing I didn't choose the "Intermediate" option. Overall I think it was a decent first time effort by AltRider, although I'd suggest having sweep riders for the next excursion to catch any stragglers/crashers, and better coordination with the featured events (in this case, Jimmy Lewis and his Offroad Academy).

Cool!! I hope AltRider does it again next year, and maybe even gives a bit more of a head's up so folks from further away can try to make it too!
