Howdy,
Been trying to access the Alt Rider web site tonight with not much luck. Have seen the recent chatter about unhappy customers, unanswered e-mails, etc. have they died? :(
Later,
Norm

How is your experience with their supply chain Jaxon. Seems like many of their vendors have been waiting on stock for some time?

I ordered the Altrider rear rack last week from Revzilla and received the rack 3 days later. I also emailed a question to Altrider and got a reponse back in under 24 hours. No problems, great company, great product, IMHO.

Hi,
Me again. Finally able to reach their site. I have also ordered from them, their side stand foot extender and I am extremely happy with the product. I do find their web site to be very slow and thier ordering process APITA. But will be looking for crash bars and at this point their product appears to be exactly what I am looking for at the right price.
Later,
Norm

Just ordered their Rear Rack in Black,
Came in three days.

Fit perfectly, but was missing a freaking bolt,
No worries, only $2.29

Much more stable and ready to receive the 2x2 cycle rack,
Huge platform, nice storage capability.

Here I come.

I had a little trouble fitting my side stand foot. After fighting it for 15 minutes, I called AltRider to see if there was a trick to it. Jeremy answered after 2 or 3 rings. No problem getting ahold of them and the head honcho answered the phone. <shrug>
What time zone are you in? AltRider is in Seattle.

I haven't heard any complaints about Alt-rider! I have a couple of their farkles on my ST and I am perfectly happy.

The only recommendation I would make is to NOT order it directly from them. I did that and I got charged ~$70 for shipping. I later asked them why they sell to vendors at a good discount and the vendors can still offer FREE shipping. I was told they were a small company and couldn't afford to include shipping in the price (obviously, I would disagree) ;D!

Best regards,

TCR

I have a few Alt-rider parts, they are made well for the most part. I'm not happy with the look of the crash bar they could have made them symmetrical on the bike and blew that, but they will do what they are there to do. I order everything from REVZILLA free shipping and get Zilla dollars for other purchases. ::012:: When I order from REV I get it the next day if it is in stock. Great customer service.

I ordered all my ALtRider bits from Revzilla. Best prices and free shipping. The last Altrider bit ( luggage rack) ended up shipping directly from AltRider.

This is MY BIG COMPLAINT about my purchase from AltRider ... I paid full-retail to them (NO DEALER DISCOUNT) and they still charged me $70 shipping and yet they will drop ship to a customer when an order is placed via a dealer (and the dealer sold it to the customer at retail with free shipping)!

Oh well... I will continue to recommend their products but NO DIRECT PURCHASES!!

Best Regards,

TCR

I agree the AltRider shipping is a bit stiff. If you order from Revzilla you end with with Revzilla bucks to spend as well (got a nice set of gloves using the Revzilla bucks from my AltRider purchases!).

Plus one on this. I agree.
Love the AltRider gear but I'll be looking at other places to purchase it in the future.

I ran into similar problems trying to order HeliBars direct. Heli made me exceptionally mad by adding a $12 service charge on top of charging me retail + shipping. Canceled the order in a heartbeat. I ended up with ConvertiBars and my wife loves them on her SV.
As for AltRider, they are trying to point you to their vendors. AltRider wants to be a part supply company not an online retailer or a customer service/support company. Their core business is to make parts. Running a website and handling online sales issues are not directly related to their core business. It takes time and money to do those things. There is a finite budget. A dollar spent on staffing the phones or streaming lining their retail sales process is a dollar NOT spent on product development.
Jaxon/Tabasco has free shipping on all AltRider parts and he supports this community unlike RevZilla. Twisted throttle also supports this community. I have only heard good things about RevZilla but I'd rather spend my dollars with a company that supports things I care about. If I can't find what I want with Jaxon or TT, then I'll look at other vendors.

I agree with your points. The only thing I purchased the products from AltRider in April - I was trying to keep some of my purchases to USA companies. I even mentioned at the time their shipping was high and I got the "we are a little company" line and I bought it until I see that they are doing "drop-shipping" to customers with orders placed through their vendors.

Any how, I like the quality of their products but I will not buy anything direct any longer from them. If they want people to buy from vendors, they should just say it!

Any way, they do make a good product and I am happy on that.

Best regards,

TCR
