Had the bike up in the mountains above Santiago Canyon for a local speed run up to the peak. I got caught behind some slow movers and went to pass (safely, I might add) and came up on an off-camber, slightly downhill corner with a nice big rut about 20 inches across and maybe 10 inches deep. It was quite dusty so who knows? I knew it was there, but sorta forgot about it this ride...DOH! I managed to get the front wheel up and over and then the rear impacted HARD, and completely sacked out the rear suspension while flinging the bike sideways. I heard the THUNK as the bottom case impacted and as with all adverse situations on two wheels I grabbed a handful of throttle and started swearing. The bike managed to magically right itself and point in the correct direction. All was good, but that rear sure came up and smacked me hard in my tailbone. Owie.

The Alt Rider skid plate and rear bracket took the beating they deserved and did their job. Basically the entire weight of the bike was coming down on that plate when it impacted the other side of the rut. GREAT product! Oh, and the dirt abilities of this big pig are something to behold. Yamaha sure made a gem with this bike. I am very impressed.

Here's a crappy pic off of my cell phone.

nice, I too have had a incident or two where I was thinking "this is gunna sux.........." the abilities of the bike are greater than expected, I too agree it is a tad heavy for what we do. I have case a few larger rocks during water crossings, yea they made a good bit of noise but I was up on the pegs, had the RPM's up and feathered that clutch. Trials style on a 1200CC beast.

Glad you are piggy are OK.
