I really like my 2012 Tenere that I bought new in two years ago but...my wife hasn't been as comfortable on it as she was on our previous Kawi C-14 Concourse. So, we 've been doing a little bike shopping for a more comfortable long-distance road bike. We nearly pulled the plug on a 2014 water-boxer R1200RT but so glad we didn't after word of the rear suspension "no-ride" letter.
I had a 1997 Valkyrie for 4 years & covered over 50,000 enjoyable miles on it. I lost it in my divorce & swore I'd get another one. It was very comfortable long distance & it seemed like a good companion for the S-10. I found real clean one locally for only $5,000 so I decided we'd take it for a ride. My spouse loved the smooth ride & the wind protection but her 36" long legs would require adjustments to the passenger pegs. She was convinced we were buying it. After the ride I told the seller that I'd get back to him.

As soon as wife & I got back on the S-10 to go for a vineyard tour I told her through our bluetooth helmets that I wasn't going to buy the Valkyrie. She was shocked! I told her it rode like a pig. The handling & brakes were terrible. The S-10 felt like going from an old F150 to a new E350 Mercedes.
We then did the vineyard tour. My wife is a winemaker & she wanted me to see the vineyards where she was getting her grapes from. We rode up several gravel roads, out in the vineyards, & at high speeds over the rolling hills.
As we rode in the cool evening air, watching the sunset, I said "Gawd I love this bike!" She just giggled & gave me a hug.
