I've just spent a few weeks in the nether regions of Alaska .... absolutely stunning, spell binding. I've been around a bit but I have to say if you want to get away from it all get yourself to Alaska. I can't tell you where we were but I've now seen a lot of it and can attest to its true rugged beauty. Damn cold though ... couldn't get used to that. We've had to rush back for a session in hotter climes now. No peace for the wicked >:D

To say Alaska is a beautiful state is an understatement. I lived in Kodiak for a few years (where I learned to fly) but worked out of there providing comms tech support all over the state, including Dutch Harbor, Attu, Port Clarence, Tok, Barrow, the panhandle, even the big cities :D.

Beautiful, potentially unforgiving, unbelievable hunting & fishing, very few bikinis. :'(
I live in FL now, lots of bikinis.

She sure is. That entire area is one big magic on this planet Terra. I ran what was supposed to be NY to Alaska in July 2012, but didn't quite make it there. I made it to Telegraph Creek, BC area. So almost ::001:: but not quite.
Once I got into the Rockies, I spent too much time sight seeing, camping and lodging around for a month ::015:: I simply wanted to stay there and stay there. This year I am going all the way, will simply allocate more time ::025::
Alaska is a must. And bikinis can be found by the pool at resorts. Otherwise tight jeans will do ::025:: ::003::

Alaska, Yukon, NWT - all spectacular. If it wasn't for the cold winters a lot of people would be moving there.

Yes the winters are horrible ::007:: STAY AWAY O:) It's 0c here in Whitehorse today, it's too hot, the snow is melting
Just kidding ::013:: The winters are long but the scenery & riding , even though there is barely 5-6 months of it are STELLAR so it makes up for it

Swagger, yep it is a glorious place for sure. I can't begin to think of the open area of nothing where you were working, or is it playing? Anyway it had to be cold and white. My wife sells to the small mom/ pop stores there in Fairbanks and Anchorage, so she is up there twice a year.
