So I have been looking at both is there any real measurable difference between the two? Is there a huge difference in sound volune tone? Any recommendations?

With the baffle in, there is usually an increase in mid-range torque, with the baffle out you sacrafice some rid-range torque for HP at the higher RPM range. It's all about choice and trade offs.Longboard said:.....................................................................
Just a note about DB killers. If you plan to purchase a slip exhaust for a little extra power you will need to pull the DB killer. With a DB killer in the performance gain is very minimal. Think of the DB killer as just choking it back to stock.

Which one do you have? The TBR or something else.roadlizard said:Went with the Akra as it is street legal and supplied by Yamaha on the World Crosser edition.
Really wanted a Staintune due to past positive experience on numerous bikes. Contacted Staintune and they were not building an exhaust for the Super Tenere in November of 2011.
I'm not the one you should be arguing with. The Akra is the clearly pipe of choice for me if I decide to go aftermarket. Any other pipe is a distant second. The Remus is well built, but it hangs at funny angle (too low at the end). As far as the 'SPL = how loud' mentality goes, I really wasn't referring to what a mic hears at X amount of feet from the pipe, but what the ear notices. I 'notice' the sound of the Akra more that I do the stock can, which is not surprising...and it's not a bad thing. I think that some of the harmonics it emits my be lower and carry just a bit further, though I'm not certian that's the reason. I like the sound of the Akra..it sounds 'sassy!' ::008:: Now stop being so sensitive about your muffler, Keys! >Blue_eyes said:With 99 dB for the Akra and 98,4 dB for stock the Akra is just as "loud" as the stock muffler: http://www.akrapovic.com/motorcycle-exhaust/products/yamaha/model/super-tenere-2010/slip-on-0306e07e9a/
A difference of 0,6 dB can only be measured, noone can tell the difference of 0,6 dB.
The Akra does sound darker, more pronounced, and is extremely well built. It does not have a removable dB killer, and improves power significantly without being louder.
I do not understand what you are whining about? Why do you think I am arguing? I'm merely posting the factual information that is on the Akra website. Wheter or not it is your pipe of choice or not is not relevant to me, why would I be sensitive about it Trevor?Tremor38 said:I'm not the one you should be arguing with. I do not want something I'm going to have to repack.
I would go Remus or Staintune or the like...Akra would be okay too
