So I have been looking at both is there any real measurable difference between the two? Is there a huge difference in sound volune tone? Any recommendations?

I've had 1 2Bros in my life - never again. Got louder n louder after a few 1000 miles.

I do not want something I'm going to have to repack.

I would go Remus or Staintune or the like...Akra would be okay too

I have the Two Brothers Ti in their "Black" configuration. It uses their "VALE" system.

With the caveat that I live in Minnesota and I installed this as a winter project and it has not been outside or ridden yet. I observe the following:

Up side.
Found it for $337 US, free delivery
Well designed and built
Looks awesome
Clean easy install
Optional DB killers available.
Awesome sound

Downs
it aint as loud as my kids 1098 with Termi's, but it is loud.

In the garage I could not discern the difference between open and the P1 "Power Tip" Db killer. (-3 to -4 db claimed)
I also have a P1X that I will try this weekend. (-7 to -8 db claimed) I am hoping this one will tame the beast.

All that said, I need to get it out on the road and see how it goes. Annecdotally, it seems like it will be OK at a 4000 rpm cruise. There is no doubt it will be loud if you whack on it a little (or a LOT).

I did do the obligatory open header start after I installed the Arrow header and it was FEARSOME loud. While I recognize the sociability concerns of an open header, man did it sound BADAZZ!

I'm really liking my Arrow. Very nicely built and the price is great. With the provided db killer in it sounded very close to stock at idle and just cruising. With it out (the only way I would run it) it's perfect at idle and cruising then gets nice and throaty when on it. I've added the header after having the slip on and new it's perfect. Nice when cruising and then ::26:: >:D when on it.

Just a note about DB killers. If you plan to purchase a slip exhaust for a little extra power you will need to pull the DB killer. With a DB killer in the performance gain is very minimal. Think of the DB killer as just choking it back to stock.

If you want loud get the 2-bros. If you want louder that stock, but not near as loud as the 2 bros, with better design and build quality get the Akra.

With 99 dB for the Akra and 98,4 dB for stock the Akra is just as "loud" as the stock muffler: http://www.akrapovic.com/motorcycle-exhaust/products/yamaha/model/super-tenere-2010/slip-on-0306e07e9a/

A difference of 0,6 dB can only be measured, noone can tell the difference of 0,6 dB.

The Akra does sound darker, more pronounced, and is extremely well built. It does not have a removable dB killer, and improves power significantly without being louder.

With the baffle in, there is usually an increase in mid-range torque, with the baffle out you sacrafice some rid-range torque for HP at the higher RPM range. It's all about choice and trade offs.

I run with the inn baffles in because most of my riding is at mid-range RPM, except when I was on the track with my Daytona675.

Went with the Akra as it is street legal and supplied by Yamaha on the World Crosser edition.

Really wanted a Staintune due to past positive experience on numerous bikes. Contacted Staintune and they were not building an exhaust for the Super Tenere in November of 2011.

Which one do you have? The TBR or something else.

I'm not the one you should be arguing with. The Akra is the clearly pipe of choice for me if I decide to go aftermarket. Any other pipe is a distant second. The Remus is well built, but it hangs at funny angle (too low at the end). As far as the 'SPL = how loud' mentality goes, I really wasn't referring to what a mic hears at X amount of feet from the pipe, but what the ear notices. I 'notice' the sound of the Akra more that I do the stock can, which is not surprising...and it's not a bad thing. I think that some of the harmonics it emits my be lower and carry just a bit further, though I'm not certian that's the reason. I like the sound of the Akra..it sounds 'sassy!' ::008:: Now stop being so sensitive about your muffler, Keys! >:D ;)

I do not understand what you are whining about? Why do you think I am arguing? I'm merely posting the factual information that is on the Akra website. Wheter or not it is your pipe of choice or not is not relevant to me, why would I be sensitive about it Trevor?

The pipe of choice is everyones own choice/taste. ::021::

+1

I had a bad experience with the TBR pipe on my R1100GS, needed repacking every 4000 miles and got noticeably louder between. That would mean three repacks a year at my current rate, yuck.

So far (8000 miles) the Akra has been great!
