Akrapovic or Yoshimura

Thinking about replacing the stock muffler... Akrapovic, Yoshimura, or ?

I do not like loud. Throaty is good.

Are any other mods needed to add an aftermarket muffler?

Th Akra is not louder than stock but throaty...there is a Youtube video comparison of this
The Yosh is louder (so I've read) unless you use the DB killer which reportedly negates any power gain from the pipe.

The Yosh is somewhat loud when you're on the trottle, but is nice and tame on the highway.

I have the Yosh. I compared the price vs performance. I went with the Yosh (I'm a parts unlimited dealer). Yes its louder than stock but its not annoying. If you are looking for a bit more sound without spending $ go with the Yosh.

Another vote for Akra, nice sound without being overly intrusive. And it also doesn't need repacking.

The Yoshi sure looks nice though, a good choice for those who want more aural stimulation.

I think I have just seen the ultimate useless accessory!

I have the Arrow full exhaust system, a little more fiddly than a slip on but not much harder to install.

There is no cat in the system and with the DB killer it is about the same loudness as stock but more throaty with out the db it sounds awesome.

Dino runs also show that it gives significant performance improvements.

I had Yoshimura on early ZX9s and then discovered Akrapovic the latter of whic is, in my opinion, the best.

However I did fit a Two Brothers system to my last GTR 1400 (Concourse) and it sounded great with the added benefit of an optional sound suppressor
