Hi All, I am looking to put an Akrapovic Exhaust on my 2014 ES but was wondering if a FI and or ECU mapping is necessary?
TIA

Nope you'll be fine with just a slip on. Introduce headers w/o the catalytic converter, and that's a different story ::008::Goldwing said:Hi All, I am looking to put an Akrapovic Exhaust on my 2014 ES but was wondering if a FI and or ECU mapping is necessary?

Funny you mentioned because I've read posts stating how much better it sounds from some riders that previously stated riding with earplugs on...go figure...:RonH said:$800??? Well I think I'm happy not sounding good. To me good is quieter the better. I don’t need to impress pedestrians with my exhaust sounds. To be perfectly honest, you are not impressing anyone but yourself by adding a "better sound", so if you like listening to yourself, then that is all cool. I don't care to listen to myself. Opinions vary though.
I commute on my bike every day and have to deal with pedestrians with their heads buried in their I phones or listening to walkmans and totally oblivious to everything around them. Sometimes a noisy exhaust is a need rather than a want if it stops them stepping out in front of you.RonH said:I don’t need to impress pedestrians with my exhaust sounds. My exhaust is actually quite visible with the carbon fibre heat shield affixed. Indeed, that is what drew my attention to the industrial drain pipe appearance of the stock exhaust. In terms of noise, the Akra is not substantially louder than the stocker. A bit throatier, but not really louder.Bushyar15 said:Not passing any judgement…
I think its interesting that "looks" would play into the equation as you can hardly see the exhaust-can with that big protector on. Then add-on panniers...
I think its interesting to spend close to 1k to change the sound of the bike… BTW, does switching the exhaust out, without a reflash of the ECU gain you anything in the performance dept?
Lastly, I ride about 50% off-road and I remember seeing some saying or the like about being considerate in the dirt/forest areas by having a quiet bike…
Personally, for the long rides I like quieter exhaust. After a bunch of miles the "droning" sound gets annoying…
But hey, to each his own, whatever makes you happy!

"Oh Yeah, now I see your akro, If I get on the left side, stand on my toes, look between the seat and pannier and focus towards the rear of the bike I can just make out a CF cone and a logo that says Arrow. Oh wait no, I see it now, it does say Akrapovic"….
Just "funnin' you…. All that matters is that you enjoy it!
Thanks, Karson!Karson said:Good looking motorseekle there, creggur. ::008:: That must be an older pic, I thought you painted/plasti-dipped some of the subframe while you were laid up a while back with your old man
