O:)Does anyone have a suggestion for an air horn that will be a direct clip in replacement for the existing(pittiful) horn?

While the Stebel is a great horn, it's not a 'direct clip in' replacement. It requires a separate wire harness, relay, etc. Because an air horn requires a small compressor it needs the extra battery juice that's not possible via the stock horn connectors, I doubt there is a 'direct clip in' replacement.

Yeah, adding the horn wiring kit (relay built-in) from Eastern Beaver would come close to what he wants..with a few extra wire ties and plugs to connect. I'd like to add a more powerful horn, but I think I'd buy driving lights first and don't wan't a horn taking up the space up front where I want to mount the lights.

Good point about the space Tremor.

Hey, a bit late to this thread, but better late than never...

I have what is turning out to be a pretty good solution to installing a Stebel;

http://supertenere1200.com/2011/09/03/fitting-a-stebel-air-horn/

I uses the horn relay from Jim at Eastern Beaver - but it was for a V-Strom so wires were longer than they needed to be. If you're planning on doing this you should inquire with him about making a Super Tenere specific version.

Screw the air horn - NOBODY misses this!
::015::
The photo shows the difference between the stock horn and one off of a relatively new Cadillac at the salvage yard, purchased for $3.

The stocker is .8 ohms and the Caddy is 1.2 ohms, so an increase from 9.6 to 14.4 watts. When I get a chance, I'll put in a relay and tidy up the wiring, but am not worried about this relatively small increase as a transient load for now. Made a hat-shaped plastic bracket to mount it to the side panel, just in front of the VIN. With the wheel fully turned there is enough clearance for the 7.5" of front wheel travel and am ready for further "Adventures in DC Commuting."

Really?? Don't you mean 9.6 to 14.4 AMPS?? I would love it if my horn drew only half of what my heated grips did. :D :D ;)....And I think you might have got resistances reversed :)

I want to install the stebel horn. I see it has been discussed here but mostly as an opinion. I will do the technical stuff and post for the benefit of others.
