is anyone on here using cycra pro bend handguards instead of the stock handguards for more protection? I have them on my wr250f and they are very stout compared to the Barkbuster brand.

Sierra, I tried a set and with the ProTaper ATV's, the ProBend mount would interfere with the clutch and brake assemblies. I'm sure someone much smarter than I has figured out how to do it because I've seen pics of an S10 with Cycra guards. Now, if you are using the stock bars... you will have more control area than the ProTaper bar. Worth a try because Cycra makes a stout product. Good luck.

you're right baldknob there is a pic somewhere out there of an s10. i want to say it was on the cover of a motorcycle magazine. i'm not sure if it was ama or not. i like the stock handguards no issues really. i had the acerbis multiconcept handguards on my vstrom 650 and they were similar to the cycra's.

Cycra pro bend can be done, but needs some extras to make them work. With the stock bars being wide, I needed to make extention pieces for both sides, and small spacers at the bar clamps for them to work. I did look into the Highway dirt bikes guards, which I feel is a better system about a year ago and was told they didn't have a set up for the S10 at that time. You might want to check and see whats available now.
Got to try the Cycras out on a right side drop ::) and they stood up well. I'm sure there are better and easier options out there by now.

thanks for replying BWC. that pic is worth 1000 words. my friend has them on his S10 and had to have some spacers made up. i think he took some of the bend out of them to stretch across the bar to mate up with the clamps without pinching the hydraulic lines. I may have some bar end weights made up that are 1/2 the width.

I also have cycra fitted using Renthal fatbars. Had to make up extenders as the hanguards and clamps wouldn't connect. The extensions are simple straight pieces of aluminum bar.
A couple of pictures attached. They have been on for a couple of seasons now and have been tested with low speed drops.

wow very nice. thank you Doug. that gives me a few ideas to work with. I wonder if cycra makes an extender bar like those you have.

Not sure but I doubt it. Without the bar end weights would gain some more room. They may offer different clamps at the inner end that may extend further as well. Seems to me pnwrider had a set that didnt require any extensions.
