After Months of Deliberation I decided on the S10

After months of research and deliberating rather to get a S10, Africa twin, Tiger 800 or explorer, Ducati MS, and the GS 800/1200, I decided on the S10. The reasons for me were cost, dealer network, reliability, cost to maintain, cruise control, tank size, shaft drive and touring ability with the occasional off road use. I found a slightly used <1000 mile 2017 with panniers and engine guard for what I felt was a great deal. I pick her up tomorrow, i added PIA lights, a skid plate and those air wing things up top that are not pictured. Im still waiting on my Mitas e07s to come in and that'll just about complete her for me. Cant wait to pick her up and put some miles on her.

PS. dont tell the wife, she doesnt know yet. Im the kinda guy that believes in doing something and asking for forgiveness vs asking for permission up front.

Welcome from metro Seattle and congrats on the new [to you] '17! Looks like you found a nicely equipped scoot.

Enjoy, you won't be disappointed.

Congrats and welcome to the group.
It looks like you have the stock plastic guard beneath the engine. The bar that came with the bike will protect the fan, but the engine sump is the bike's only other Achilles Heel, so do some searches on sump plates.

::004:: Give the wife a ride before she can say no. Then, once she's hooked, everything will be fine. ::025::

Based on your list, a lot of the bikes were struck out (CC, shaft).
You have chosen wisely. The ST is virtually bulletproof.

Bullsh1t

You, AvGeek, and others are certainly still members and family, even if you no longer own this particular bike.

Thanks Checkwrecks. For some reason I always found this forum the least facebooky of all forums. No BS, no grandstanding, just a great bunch of people that get together to bs, sort out issues

Thanks for the welcome! The misses is slowly warming up to the fact I bought an adventure bike! I did get the skip plate put on along with alt rider front headlight guard as well. Families in town these next couple of weeks so not getting much riding in. But I've got a weekend trip planned soon with the mrs in tow as well.

I also added those top side wind protectors. As I was out riding this week I noticed that the suns glare of them was bad. Im thinking about painting them flat black, anyone else done this or any other suggestions?

Maybe get a can of spray wrap to use on the winglets? The wrap will "black" them out like paint. That way, if you don't like them being opaque, you can peel it off, and they will still be in perfect shape.

Welcome. I have the same color and love it. I am still looking to get the heated grips, crash bars, and the skid plate. A little at a time. The good news is my wife loved the bike from the get go. Enjoy the new ride.
