After Market Exhaust for S10?

Let me preference this by saying that I have no experience with upgrading exhaust on motorcycles, I've always settled for the factory can. That being said, I'm really considering upgrading when my new S10 arrives. Since upgrading the exhaust is a rather expensive prospect, I'd like to get some help from those in the know. With choices like Leo Vince, Remus, Akropovic, and Wasp just to name a few, how does one decide which to purchase? Has anyone done a side by side comparison, or seen articles that compare the various after market exhaust offered for the S10? Does anyone have any good or bad experience with the any of the companies I mentioned?

Thanks in advance,

BC

I ordered the Wasp version and have received the product. The fit and finish is great, but, obviously, I have not had the chance to try it out. I bought it purely for the awesome sound. If you get a chance to play his you tube video on a good sound system, you'll see what I mean. I listened to all of the current offerings and the others don't come close to the sound of Wasp, IMHO.

I've had Staintune & Remus on several bikes (mostly BMW's*)
They are the cats meow in build quality...never need repacking etc.
Load 'em on and forget it.

FWIW - I may just stay OEM stock on this sled, at least for a long while.

Not sure yet...but I may stay quiet for once. Time will tell.

I'm not sure that I can get a working post of the videos, but here is a link to page 51 of Wasp's ADVrider thread which has both videos posted near the bottom of the page. You can also view the videos on youtube by searching for Motorrad Works baffle in, and Motorrad works no baffle.

Here is a link to the motorrad site where I ordered from:

BTW, I'm in the U.S.A., and I ordered from Motorrad garage in Australia.

My thinking as well, quiet is good after 13 years.

Thanks for the input Hannabone! I understand where you are coming from with the quiet bike. I just thought with this BEAST, I needed a beastly exhaust.

I find the sound of the stock exhaust quite "meaty" myself on those odd occasions that I don't wear earplugs and can hear it.

Kind of thinking that I might not benefit from "improved" sound of an aftermarket can given that I use earplugs, so for me the only thing that might make me change from stock is look and performance. Wasp's can has got the look for sure, but as far as I am aware he has still not delivered dyno chart comparisons?

Correct. I have not had the time (or got the PC5 yet) to get the bike down to the dyno.
Hopefully that will change in the near future but I need to weld a couple of probe test ports in the headers first, that is unless the PC5 is supplied with emulators and the O2 sensors can be removed. In which case I can use those ports for the sniffer.
It's pointless doing the tune unless you can sniff both ports to tune cylinders individually rather than as a pair.
I am also not sure yet if the PC5 for the S10 has the capability to adjust timing, so that will be an interesting one.

It would be good to see raw dyno tests with OEM and your carbon can (silencer only) without PC5 tuning, as this is the config I would probably go for. I am not interested in doing the whole system (removing catalytic converter, etc.). Guess though that you want to limit number of separate visits to the dyno...

In any case can't wait until you get some data for various configuration including PC5! Great to know what potential our rides have, even if we are not all planning to implement it (yet ;))

When I get down to the dyno it will be for the full day.
We will do:
1/ std bike inc std exhaust and muffler
2/ MotorradWorks carbon cat-back muffler system with std exhaust + PC5 with ZERO maps (ie: no influence from PC5)
3/ MotorradWorks carbon cat-back muffler system with std exhaust + PC5 with full twin cyl tune
4/ MotorradWorks carbon cat-back muffler system with cat removed custom exhaust + PC5 with ZERO maps (ie: no influence from PC5)
5/ MotorradWorks carbon cat-back muffler system with cat removed custom exhaust + PC5 full twin cyl tune.

It will be huge and probably unprecedented.... But worth it.

This is the way I did the hugely popular WaspPUK (Power Up Kit) for Ducati's.

I have only heard a live Tenere once for about 15 seconds in a dealer with the stock exhaust. My memory is fading, I'm trying to remember, did it sound anything like this.

I don't see a system run without a cat, but would like to see that also. :)

Ignore that. I see where you have it highlighted.
