Hello Everyone,

I have recently launched a new podcast called the Throttled Podcast and can cleverly enough be found at ThrottledPodcast.com. I have been able to get it listed on ITunes as well. I would really appreciate any advice on how I may be able to improve the podcast. I am trying to find a special guest / co host for the show to add a little banter (if you are interested send me a pm). Please give a listen and let me know what I can do to improve the show. Thanks

Kevin

I subscribed to it.. I'll give it a listen over the weekend.

Without listening yet, here's a few things that I like to see from podcasts in general.

Make sure you post it on a regular basis. if you tell listeners that it's coming out every Tuesday afternoon, make sure you set your deadlines so that you get it out on time. Podcasts that trickle out whenever the host wants tend to turn me off from getting them.

set a show limit and adhere to it as best you can.. Say it's an hour long and make it that (or maybe longer for a good topic or guest). don't churn out 10min podcasts when you don't have enough material to fill up a show. either change how often you produce the show if you can't fill up your allotted time or maybe your topic is too narrow for a podcast and you need to broaden it out.

have a good time doing it and make it seem that you are having a good time... listeners will enjoy a show with an upbeat host better. if it's frustrating you to do the show, maybe it's not your thing. Don't let technology glitches get you down. unless you're an old radio/podcast pro, you'll have glitches and just roll with it.

if you have guests, try to get the best sound quality out of them you can... it's always hard to listen to someone that sounds like they are recorded on a worn out tape desk while they call you from a IP phone in some third world country (unless they just happen to be doing that.. like some world traveler on a trip).

good luck with it. I've downloaded your first 3 episodes to listen to.

As above and...

I haven't had a listen yet but I am about to..Take these as general comments.

Being a listener and sampler of many podcasts, have fun, keep up a reasonable pace, and I try to limit the "campfire banter" that no-one else except you and your off sider and/or guest has any stake in.

Like talking about some off topic subject that is specific to your area / culture / you personally that has nothing to do with the podcast theme for 10 minutes on a regular basis. That's something that usually gets me to STOP coming back. There are a few podcasts I have tried to listen to that go off on tangents about local schools and areas and kids things that I can hear any day of the week from any number of sources, live. It's like I have just interrupted a private conversation and have no point being there.

The news stuff bit is good. EDUCATED Opinion stuff is good. (even though you may put off some fanboys) Admit when you were wrong.

If you can get out a regular 15 minutes easily and it is good, and well timed and full of useful stuff it's better than doing an hour of nothing much and burning yourselves out and stopping after 6 weeks because it's all too hard to fill it up.

Rely on the least amount of people on a regular basis. If you have 5 regulars to herd into a time slot each week you will probably find you are spending more time apologizing for non appearances than actually developing a show. As radio has shown, one or two regulars work best, the rest are guests. This is when people are being paid to appear, When they are not it's harder.

And don't expect to be brilliant on day one. You will get better as you practice your craft. I don't know the stats but I have listened to some very good podcasts that seem to have 1 like each week in the beginning because they are very heavy and don't deal much with Kim Kardashian probably won't get higher than 6 likes. Don't worry about it.

Please offer low and high quality in ogg(free format) and aac (Mainly Apple) if possible. I also like to download and have the thing available to mutiple devices to listen to out of mobile areas.

And nothing wrong with spruiking your Tenere honestly. I don't know why but I have heard a few podcats that seem to get all cringy and feel they have to put it down and blow smoke up "europeans" asses. They all have pluses and minuses and for some reason some people seem to have to gloss over some of the minuses of the popular brands. (Maybe to get more hits) I don't know.

And lastly, I have heard enough about LD comfort. ::025::

Just one persons opinion out of millions.

Got through about 1/2 of the first one this afternoon. Sounds good. Keep it up. I've got some drive time to a wedding tomorrow and I'll listen some more.

Listened to the first two. It is like listening to, instead of reading, ADVRider. Love it so far ::012:: Well, except for the basement, don't go there!

I like the length, sound quality, and not dwelling on any topic too long.

Oh and one suggestion. Please normalize the volume at a higher level. I have to turn up the car stereo too much to hear at highway speed.

Thanks for the normalization tip. I'll try to bump that up for the next episode. If anyone has any topic tips or other suggestions keep them coming.

Listened to #3 today... I haven't heard 1 or 2. Not a bad start. I think you need a co-host to help with banter and more than one opinion.

No not me!

yeah, finding the co host is my main focus. I am not getting a lot of interest, but when the right individual shows up I will definitely get them on board.

I've been listening to The Pace Motorcycle Podcast... when they put one out... and I guess I'd say if you get this going stay regular. It's quite annoying to go to listen to this weeks Pace and well there are No unplayed episodes!

Best of luck to you!

Still doing them, recording one tonight. I took a few days worth the family and got some riding in. Thanks for keeping me honest.

Your link didn't work for me... ?? I also did a search on my iPhone and got a bunch but nothing listed as Throttlepodcast???

I'm trying to check it out without luck.
Well I fat fingered the URL last night, the correct one is http://ThrottledPodcast.com. (notice the 'd'). My mistake, if you search for Throttled Podcast in the iTunes podcast area you should find it. Sorry for the confusion.
