I got the Venture out for the first time this spring and went for a 150 mile shake down. I wanted to test some new adventure gear I have been stocking up on this winter. I am new to the adventure bike scene and am starting from scratch. I wanted too share with you my thoughts on my gear.
The first picture is just of the bike at Lake Darling St. Park, Not much going on there.
The second picture is of a new helmet I picked up. It isn't a Shoei or a Arai just an inexpencive Fulmer. I didn't want to get too much into an adventure helmet at first go because I wear glasses and in the past I have always wore an open face helmet so I don't have to take my glasses off and on to put on or take off my helmet. It was a very good fit and very comfy. It had about the same wind noise as my open face helmet, much warmer though as it was 30 degrees when I left home. It might be worth the extra hassel for the added protection when on the new Super Tenere.
The third picture is of the heated vest . The first time I ever tried heated gear. [Christmas present] I was very pleased with this too. It's the cheapest one Parts Unlimited offered. It only has an off and on switch but I had it on the whole time and was quite comfy. It has a heated collar which was a must for me. An old MX injury causes my neck to lock up in cold weather riding. Had no such pain today.
The fourth picture is of the new Yamaha brand Adventure pants. I just love these things. So warm with only a pair of long johns on under them They have protetion in the knee and hip area.[ Wind proof [water proof hopefully]
I know this stuff may not be the top of the line high dollar stuff but for all you out there just getting started in the Adventure scene like me this might be an option for you too. Thank You for reading.

The stretch panels in the pants are a good idea. Scorpion likes to use those in their equipment as well, and they really do work by adding flexibility when needed.

My wife has those and they kept her dry and are holding up well.
