What racks do you have?

Use the measurements of the Rotopax and check for rear brake clearance.

Another option is to buy an Altrider Rear Rack which is pre-drilled for Rotopax. I hauled a 1 gallon from CA to WY MT and back with no concerns.

nope.
I had to shim mine about 3/8" to the right to clear the brake caliper.

i had it for work (held my electrical meter nicely) but I needed it more for the bike.

I have since removed the pelican case, as it put a bit of strain on the rear fender.

I mounted the Rotopax 1.75 on my '12 XTZ, but I have a Altrider rear rack. Works very well, though it does slightly rub the paint off the passenger handles.
Hi Jimmy,
I'm about to do the same (Alt Rider rear rack and 1.75 Gal Rotopax).
Do you by chance have some detailed pictures of your set-up?
I know the 1 Gallon Rotopax clears everything, but I would prefer the 1.75 and see if something can be done to increase clearance with passenger handles.
Thank you

If you don't use the passenger handles... remove them. I find they get in the way of fastening luggage to the rear of the Tenere.

The width difference is 1.5" or .75" on each side.

Thank you Tomato. Problem is I would like to have 2 set-up: with a passenger and therefore the handles, or alone with pillion seat removed and a long flat rack. I know that set-up 2 will be no problem.
I have seen some pictures on the net and I think I may be OK to either raise the Rotopax to clear the handles, or simply make new holes for the Rotopax bracket.

I have been placing electrical tape on the passenger handle where the Rotopax rubs and works just fine. The rub marks I've got are minor and only removed the paint, did not mar the plastic. This was noticed after 2,000 off-road miles in Colorado. :)

To raise the Rotopax, you could use furniture foot protectors and stick them to the tank or the rack.

I have not removed the handles because I find it actually helps hold the items I'm strapping down. The Givi 'removable' luggage hardware uses the handle mounts and if I removed them, would need to make spacers to correct the offset.

Received and installed the Alt Rider rear rack. As Jim mentionned, the 1.75 gal Rotopax does touch the handles. I have decided to have the Rotopax moun turned 90 degrees and it does fix the problem. So 2 little holes, Rotopax mount perpendicular to the bike and we are in business. Will post picst when done.

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but I am going on a trip soon and would love some advice. I was thinking of getting a 1.75 Rotopax and because I dont have time to order the rack, just strap it to the rear luggage rack with some ROK Straps...would this work / be secure? I know they are pretty strong, but wanted to see if anyone else has done something similar.
