I changed my oil today and seen the “plastic” wimpy guard that comes from the factory,

I ordered a black one. That factory one is for looks only. It wouldn’t do anything.

Great deal on this. Thanks for setting up the group buy.

There are small countersunk allen screws on the bottom of the plate. BUT, it is easier to back out the two 'centerstand' bolts and drop the rear bracket down. I tweaked the verticals in a touch to allow easier upward insertion. You can remove the screws, but my plate is beat to hell and no longer straight. Well, sorta straight after some hammer recalibrating.

The forward studs make the plate R&R simple.

Yep, I've had an ACD plate for years. Front Studs, centre stand bolts and off it comes. Just did an oil change and I think I had the plate off, oil changed, and back on within about 40 minutes and talking my time.

I have an ACD plate and I don't have 8 small flathead allen screws that attach the plate to the engine. It's simply the two large bolts at the front and the two center stand bolts.
I read that you can remove the bolts not totally, but just enough to drop the plate without the center stand coming off. HAs that been the case for you? I assume that you are using the side stand to do the job.

Yes, push the bolts out enough to clear the skidplate. Just did my oil this way.

NOTE - I have no center stand so am not sure how that would factor in.

Anyone got theirs yet? I noticed they are not available on the ACD website anymore. I got a shipped notice, but as far as I can tell it hasn’t been picked up by USPS yet.

It sounds like we’re in the same boat.

Picked up my '13 S10 in June which was equipped with ALT Rider crash bars and a ACD skid plate (with stud mod).
Did my first oil/oil filter change about a month ago and I must say that removing the 6 countersunk allen bolts from beneath
the plate was a pretty easy route to take. I did not realy want to mess with backing out the two bolts that secure the centerstand.
A bit fiddly getting the plate back on to line up correctly but I figured out to loosely attach the
front lock washers to the studs and then fully tighten the six underside allen bolts and then the plate "snapped" into place.
Next time I do this service it will be a much more streamlined and quicker endeavor.
Believe it or not this was the method that was recommended to me when I contacted ACD's US office which communicated
directly with one of the company's techs in Spain.

Received mine yesterday. Very substantial looking piece.
It WILL take a good beating.

A way to upgrade your plate is to line it with sound absorbing material to reduce the reflection of engine noise. I bought a box of Fleabay and put a layer throughout the inside. Was not too confident in it lasting, but it has been in there for ~2 years with no pealing.

Okay I'm Midway through putting this thing on it was hell getting the spacer through the center stand on the Springside but finally got it. Now I'm seeing the center stand bolt on the left side of the bike doesn't appear that it will clear the exhaust coming out. Am I wrong?

Just received mine today. I had to align the flat side of the bolt head just right and the tap it with a punch to get the left side stand bolt out. Luckily it came out. I did not want to start loosening the exhaust.

I am really pleased so far. F5623845-0067-4426-82EA-113F22164F96.jpeg

Received mine yesterday. Haven’t open the box yet. I’ll try to get it installed this weekend. Here’s to hoping I don’t have similar issues as some others. :)

I am new to this site. I registered today to see if there was any info on installing these skid plates. I got one because a friend of mine turned me on to the group buy deal. I got it on after reading some posts that suggested I needed to bend the front of the plate out some. Mine would not line up at the rear centerstand holes until I did this. Unfortunately, I removed my center stand springs thinking it would be easier, and now I cant get them back on. I have a spring puller that I use for exhaust springs on dirt bikes, but these springs are much tighter and straightened out the hook on my tool. I just ordered a heavy duty Motion Pro spring puller but it wont be here for 2 days.

Anyone have a trick for getting these springs back on without the puller?

I see alot of guys use studs in place of the bolts they send with the plate. Anyone know what size/length studs to get?

I made my studs out of a bolt, just cut it down to the same overall length as the bolts that are sent with the skid plate. I have givi crash bars installed, so instead of using the spacer ACD sent I used a nut to tighten down my bars then the skid plate and then another nut to tighten down the skid plate. If that makes sense. No bending or tweaking required.

I have a heavy duty spring puller I use for snowmobile exhaust springs. Worked really well on the side stand springs.
