I am new to the S10 but not new to riding.
I have a ST1100 which I put many miles on and I have quite a few accessories mounted.
Of those is heated gear for myself and pillion.

My question is, what size alternator does the S10 have?
Can it handle heated gear for 2-up duty?
My ST1100 has a 40 Amp alternator which can handle anything I throw on it.

Thanks,

Mike

it's in the owners manual I belive.

But it' sizable.
500-600w range, so it's in the same ball park.

Transfer all your plug ins over, you will be perfectly fine.

Right now I run a few accessories:
Gerbings heated vest
Rigid D2 Dually lights
55w HID's
Radar detector,

that's about it. No issues at all

Thanks Greg, good to know.
I didn't see it in the manual, I'll have another look.

don't quote me.

either in the owners manual, or the service manual.
But the 40 amp mark is about right (600W or there abouts)

plenty of juice. hook it up, and let it rip!

Spec'ed output is 14V, 42.9 A at 5000 RPM. That's 600 watts which is fairly generous although a few bikes do better.

I've never seen anything other than guesstimates for the base draw of the bike I'd feel completely comfortable running heated grips and a few pieces of heated clothing, but if you're really going crazy with heating/aux-light loads, I'd put a voltmeter on it and monitor. (Electronic gizmos add negligible load.) If you're okay with a 40A ST11, you're probably good to go. I owned a 28A ST11 and it was marginal.

Perfect, thanks markienn, should never be a problem.
On my ST1100 I run heated grips, heated jacket for myself and wife and heated gloves for myself. Never a problem.

Thanks all for the feedback.
