I used 2 spade connectors to replace the 30A fuse and a covered toggle switch in the left dash. Easy peasy. ABS is off when the safety cover is open and the toggle is up. The turn ABS back on, close the safety cover and re-start the bike.
Sounds simple enough. Thanks!

Does this Mod eliminate the 30A fuse? If so, is this a concern?

Use a 30A inline fuse in the wire to the switch.

A word of caution if you want to install the fairing wings. Keep your switch slightly in-board on that left panel so that it doesn't interfear with the wing install.

So, think a 10 amp switch would work? I have an extra one that I was thinking of using.

Great info on this topic. I'm a new S10 owner with a lot of dirt bike experience and have looked over many threads on this forum regarding this. I don't think it's important to ridicule people on whether or not their riding ability warrants turning off ABS, but rather helping them to do it right if that's what they choose. Heck, I'm not sure if I'll ever use this switch, but I'd like to have that option just in case. With all this in mind, can someone who has actually done this mod answer this question that I have:

Does throwing the switch made the speedo stop working as well? Or anything else on the dash for that matter? I saw mixed answers to this on another thread and would just like it cleared up.

Thanks all!

It doesn't cause the speedo to stop working. If the switch is installed correctly, (on the right circuit), it just interrupts the ABS, showing up as a fault on the display. Flipping the switch back to 'on' and cycling the key switch re-sets it.

I have the ABS switch installed on my bike an use it a lot, I like sliding/locking up the rear wheel.. I have zero problems with it affecting anything else on the bike.

It just simply cuts power to the ABS control unit- nothing else. I run the stock 30amp fuse the came from the factory already in/on the bike.

Could you not put a 30 amp relay like the ones we use for lighting & then you could use small wire & a small on/off switch? ::002::
You would probably want to use a normally closed relay. A normally open relay like is used for lights might not work.
