Unless there is a waiting list I would certainly ask for something to make dealer selection an easy choice. Especially if there is more than one in your area... Since you're going 2015, you may not have much leverage- but remember dealers don't pay msrp. I think I read their cost is in the ballpark of 85-90% + incentives as they sit ... there will be setup labor for them but you can always see what could be done. At least ask for accessories discount etc. you know you're ready, but they don't have too ;-). You might also find a great deal on a 2014ES unless your loving the new red... Can't blame you either way... They both are awesome!
But yeah - the rest is easy and why they are professional dealers - the only thing easier will be enjoying the heck out of your amazing new bike! Enjoy! And welcome...
Larger playing field in your favor with the 2014 same bike.
Unless money does not matter, you could put the savings towards other goods for you bike or riding gear for your honey. ::008::
www.cycletrader.com There are deals to be had and even some who are advertising 2015's for not much more than a 2014, which is interesting since the 14's have dealer incentives from Yamaha USA, where the 15's do not as yet. However, it is important to get the out the door price from them.
At this early stage in the game on the '15's, don't expect much breathing room on price. I'd go with a new '14 that you can get for 12k instead of the '15 that I'm sure is sitting near 16k. The bikes are identical with the exception of the body paint. Also, I wouldn't buy anything for the bike from Yamaha even with a 20% discount. You can do far better with superior quality from places like Altrider, Touratech and Twisted Throttle to name a few.
Do your homework and never play a "set up fee" or "freight".
I am one to buy the latest model but a new '14 is $12,500 and a new '15 is $16,000. That is a $3,500 difference. If you don't like the '14 color you are about $500 away from the color you like. The '15 does not have a right side panel and the '14 does. I haven't heard of any other difference. Save the money and make everyone happier.
I think the pics shown on the Yamaha USA site of the 15 ES without a rear right side panel are actually pics of the standard model. That shock shown is not the ES shock.
I can confirm the 2015es at the bike show had the panel and true ES... It looked identical short of the color. Posted a pic in the 2015 thread. So yeah - don't know anything differences and the website pic is the wrong gallery...
That's awesome. When my wife gave me the thumbs up I felt like a kid in a candy store...The 14ES in grey or the 15 in Red or Silver. I'm a huge fan of the grey and after finding one at a "decent" price pulling the trigger was a no brainer. Like others have posted the difference in price will go towards extras. A true win win. Congrats
