Hi folks. Just looked at howmanyleft.co.uk and apparently there are 543 XT1200Z's in the UK. Not many eh!

So does that really mean that we are a very discerning and non-herd following group of individuals
If that were true you'd not be on here right now  :))

I tried to imply that we are non-herd following, in the context of being ADV bike riders who don't ride an apparently popular teutonic offering. However, I fully accept that I failed miserably in getting that across. ::)

Well obviously you are in a more discerning club than owners of FERRARI 360 MODENA 's.

They are just soooo common..(766)

And those Porsche 911's Pfffft ..Commoners transport (1,999).

I do get that cockeyed look from the Beamer riders when I pull up next to them or most of the time they pull up next to me at a light. I say under my helmet (HAVE A NICE DAY) :)

Never the less the topic was what now? 8)

Nice one Stutrump - didn't even know this site existed, wonders of the web. On one hand , love my bike and want to share the good news ie be nice to see more of 'em: on the other hand enjoy the relative scarcity/ cachet of NOT being' one of the herd'. Only trouble with my black s10 is some think it's a Triumph!

OK, my dear British riding friends...

I realize that you blokes get some models over there that we don't sell in the states, but what I want to know is what, exactly, are the following bikes:

http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/browse/yamaha

Yamaha 990 Superduke - 19 licensed
Yamaha Adventure 990 - 201 licensed
Yamaha Model Missing - 39,782 licensed

Just curious, as those are sure Yamaha models I've never heard of, and neither has Google... ::025::

Could it be that the data there on that site might be just a *tiny* bit questionable? ;)

Yamaha Adventure 990 - 201 licensed. Well, JaimeV has been busy selling mods I would say ::024::

and as far as Yamaha Model Missing, well I know a few people who used to ride those. They come in lot's of configurations.

Lies damn lies and statistics. Like any list the awkward bit that no one can be arsed to fathom gets listed as 'Other' :D

The 990's are KTM's by the sounds of it.

I can't believe there are only 2000 Porsche 911's unless that is a specific model or derivative. - the 911 has sold for decades and is very popular in the more affluent areas. There must be 10's of thousands of them.

Hi Welsh Wizard. Agree with you entirely until recently crashing mine. Now Im becoming quite aware that in the UK there is probably a VERY small market for 'whats left' of my bike. Partly because there aren't many of us and partly coz the S10 is so darn reliable!!

A lot of models are split up by variant, the site is supposed to consolidate them.

I think the data is based on how many are either taxed (Yearly rip off to use your bike on the road in the UK - as if $9.25 per gallon does not full the governments coffers enough) or declared "SORN" (Registered as not in use on the road)

Probably a few here and there with wrong entries on the database, and with older vehicles it is likely to be far less accurate. The unknown Yamaha's will probably be a lot of older machines when less details on bikes were recorded by big brother (I think many years ago they would have just been registered as a Yamaha xxx CC motorcycle.
