Our 37th anniversary was coming up real soon and we had planned to ride up to Lake Superior for a week of camping and exploring. Michelle has been after me to get a new bike all spring so with 10 days before departure we picked up a new Super Tenere. I told her that night that we had to get luggage ordered so I have time to get the bike ready. I showed her all the options and then she said "you go outside for a while" when I came back in she had ordered what she wanted. A couple days later some boxes showed up and I had Givi Outback luggage to install. I think she made a good choice! She also got me some Tank protectors.
I had a Givi windshield for the 12 Blue that I wasn't using so I put it on for more wind protection and put on the side wind deflectors. We wanted to use the Motofizz on the rear because it makes a great trunk for Michelle to rest against and is so easy to load camping gear into.
We were ready to go.
First we headed north into Minnesota. In northern Mn. is a huge mine called Hull Rust Mahoning, I couldn't believe how big it is and how interested Michelle was with it. She usually looks at holes in the ground and just walks away.
We camped every night for a week on the road.
We rode the very remote, sandy, muddy, dirt Echo Trail in the wilderness of northern Mn.
We may look bundled up for summer riding but it's cold up here, we had heated vests on most of the time for 3 or 4 days straight.
There is a lot to see along Lake Superior, Lighthouses Waterfalls and the Lake itself.
I have the coolest wife and my best friend for 37 years now.
When we got to Duluth we stopped at Aerostich. I wanted to get Michelle some waterproof pants. She had to put on and take off rain gear and that's a hassle.
Them his and her Harleys next to our bike are from North Carolina and on their way to Alaska, he owns a 2015 Red Tenere and thinks it's great but needed to be on the Harley since she was on her Harley.
We did the Picture Rocks Sunset boat trip out on Lake Superior. Michelle liked it and it was fun.
They take you out past Grand Island to see an old Lighthouse.
And since it was the Sunset cruise,
Then we dropped down to Lake Michigan.
We rode a narrow back road out to Peninsula Point, at the end is a cool old lighthouse that you can go up in.
Then out into Wisconsin.
We hiked along the Wolf River.
Did I tell you that I have a Totally Awesome Wife!
We found some more waterfalls back in some remote places [Be careful about going back into some of these places, looks like some shady locations]
I married way above my pay scale.
Then we made it home in time to go see the grand-daughters.
What a great trip.
