I was trying to figure out if I replace the ECU on my 2012 with one from a 2023 if it would work at all. And if it would work, what changes might I have to make?
I think that would be inadvisable. If the ecu is faulty there are far more used Gen 1 units around and a new ecu costs a ridiculous amount. A 2023 ecu may throw fault codes looking for cruise switches and the different diagnostic modes or instrument display.
I share the previous message...but it would be interesting to know why you want or need to change the ECU?...it is practically failure proof
I think I remember from some user who had also been recommended to change the ECU, but he exchanged the ECU on another bike, and the fault did not appear on the second donor bike, that is, the fault was not the ECU.
