Just found my next motorcycle. Money is already saved including accessories. Its got a chain but I can live with that. Time to sell/trade the KLR to free up some space in the garage.

looks far more street/tour oriented than the Honda. I wouldn't really put them in the same class.

I'm more interested in a smaller/lighter more dirt capable bike rather than a smaller mostly road going bike as the Yamaha looks.

It is really just an MT/Fz09 with a bigger tank and sub frame. Nothing much else. Think of an MT/FZ09 that can soak up the miles with more comfort.

Which was pretty much what the rumours were saying. Triple more street and the Twin more off road. That's what the Europeans were pushing for anyway. They wanted the 07 as the more off road base.

Lets just hope that the XT07 is going to be more than the MT/FZ-07 with a bigger seat and tank.

I'm honestly concerned how is this bike going to handle a pillion and the luggage with, basically unchanged MT geometry.

Same here. I don't ride 2up and probably won't camp from the FJ-09 but I don't want a sagging rear shock.

Wondering if the USA turn signals are plug-n-play with the LED EUR turn signals? They weren't with the Super Tenere.

I think it's going to be an awesome addition. It even has the new Tenere instrument cluster. Can't wait for them to arrive in Dec.

whats the concern?
If yamaha kept the same suspension as the fz09, then it will not be good. There's no compression adjustment (front/rear) but hopefully they upgraded the suspension.
With some suspension work, the FZ handled two people well.

I rode the MT09 on more occasions and while it's an excellent fun bike, i don't found it funny if they keep the same wheelbase, and the rest of the specs, suspensions included.
Actually check out the chasis specs...

Last one i rode had few farkles, and they made some considerable difference.

Even with this upgrades, there's no way to keep the front down accelerating with the pillion in the back.
Add some more weight in the top case, and you'll have a scary touring bike.

I think people are over exaggerating the wheelie prone nature of the FZ-09. I didn't think it was that intimidating at all, and would enjoy a fj9. I felt the fz-07 was more wheelie prone, and much easier to stand it on end. That, honestly, felt like a lot more fun than the 9.

I love the looks of this bike but I might wait a year and get the discounted price on it before the new model year comes out. It's not much less than an ST and the ST gives you alot more in my opinion. 8) ::)

Cool! Other things to note, the mags liked the suspension better, and I notice that when I sit on it, despite the spring rate being wrong for my weight, it is very nearly perfect balance front and rear. Or, in other words, they build the suspension for riding single. This is rather unusual for the japanese and I am sure it is one of the reasons that the setup is liked more than the fz9 in its initial setup

its meant to be around town blaster, one up with a rear top bag for stuff. It will never see two up.
I've been calling around, and the deals are pretty good around the Calgary area. Usually $300-500 dollars over msrp all in.

I think I would be able to basically slap a small screen on it, sw motech rear rack (as I can't find decent hard racks for it) and away you go.

They should have given it a bit more wheel travel and maybe raked it out a shade.
