So besides the colors, what are the differences between the 2014 and 2015 ES 1200 Supertenere?

I have looked but haven't found anything.

I have a landmark birthday on the horizon and have been wanting one of these since they came out.

I am thinking I can save a bit on a holdover, but I want to know all the pro's and con's before I commit.

Anyone know the differences?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure, but I think it's just color.

I looked pretty closely when they came out but couldn't find any differences (other than the color and decals on tank). I did notice in the images from Yamaha, the plastic covers under the seat next to the passenger footpegs are absent like they were in pre-2104 models. I don't know if this is just because these are images of pre-production models or if they are truly not there on the 2015. Personally, I like those panels.

JRE, I'm pretty sure only the ES has those plastic panels, ostensibly to protect the servo for the electronic rear suspension or some such thing.

The red model I have in the image above is the ES model (hence the red color) directly from Yamaha's site.

::026:: Just the ES. And if you look carefully at the Red one you'll see the standard pre-load nut, on the grey one you can see the electronics from the shock

I have the (red) 2015 ES and I believe the only difference between 2014/2015 models is the color. As regards the plastic panels mentioned earlier I cannot recall whether mine has those. It's in the garage and it's too cold to go out and check.

Maybe the picture on Yamaha's site is that of a Canadian, non-ES model which I think do come in red though I can't seem to access the site at the moment.

The 2015 U.S. model is available in red in both the ES and non-ES. Most likely Yamaha put the wrong picture (non-ES) in the ES section -- wouldn't be the first time they've screwed up the pictures on their website.

Are you sure? I understood that the red one in the USA is only the ES model. No?

Yep, looks like he is right. I guess Yamaha was too lazy to take a picture of the actual ES model :-\

If you go to Yamaha's site (USA) and pull up the 2015 ES model, it actually shows the non-ES model. In fact, all of the images in the gallery are the non-ES model.

Lol - this has actually been the case since the beginning... I can report I have seen the 2015 ES in person at the bike show... Here is an admittedly blurry cam treatment showing - from what I could tell an identical ES. http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=13053.msg216327#msg216327

The color also seems a bit different in person... Personally I am glad I did not wait and love my grey 2014. I think the subdued contrast is a little more pleasing to me.

Plus if you deck yours out all awesome like JRE's (at least I think that was yours in the other thread), no one can say it's not a spirited bike!
