Has anyone ever seen or know why the cruise control light would start blinking? When you 1st fire up the bike and turn it on the light turns a solid amber. Once you tap on the breaks or pull the clutch in the light starts blinking with the amber color. This is happening on my dad's 2014. On my 2015 the light will go to a solid amber once the cruise is disengaged... Not sure what to make of this

My cruise control light always remains amber when the system is on. An additional green light that says "SET" comes on when it's engaged. This sounds different to what you describe?

For your problem I would check the brake light and clutch switches as well as the wheel sensors for any damage or irregularities. Maybe also clean the handlebar switch assembly out?

Sorry for the poor explanation, You are correct the Set light goes green it's the amber light that flashes when the cruise is disengaged. In the manual, it says that if this is happening then you need to bring it to a Yamaha dealer to get it looked at.

I was just wondering if anyone else had this issue or heard about this issue. My dad said he read online that someone had said it could be a sensor on the brake pads causing it because they need to be changed. Not sure how true that is... seems like a good idea to have an indicator that might tell you that.

On my 2016, when you press the cruise control button the amber cruise light comes on. Then, when you set cruise control a little green light comes on next to it that says "Set" and when you disengage CC the "Set" light disappears. Not sure if that helps!!

I wonder if error codes for the CC are stored in the diagnostics menu? There are no sensors in the brake pads but there are wheel speed sensors at each hub.

There are several recent threads on this very subject, that explore the possible issues - just search 'cruise control'.

My understanding is that the flashing amber cruise light indicates a fault that warrants a trip to the dealer. Otherwise, the previous threads cover all the likely culprits if the system simply won't SET - I wonder, has your Dad had say a tyre change that may have served to damage the ABS sensors or pinched the sensor leads. Is the battery up to full strength & the terminals snug & clean.

Good luck finding the gremlin ..................... KEN

Thanks for the heads up on the threads... I'll dig into them this afternoon.
