Hi
I had a test ride on a 2014 ES S10 last weekend, great improvements but I have a concern about the new tank Range trip, it claimed I had 340 miles worth of fuel in the tank... I have only managed 210 on my 2011 model.
The tank is the same size and the fuel economy is the same so I am worried this range trip is a little vague and pretty useless.

Anyone got one and what's you experience of this?

The range will change as the instant mpg changes. That same display could shrink to 150 miles if it were displayed while you were deep in the throttle. It's far from useless, it is saying "this is about as far you can go if you ride like you are right now on the fuel currently in the tank." Since the bike's computer doesn't know (and you probably don't either) exactly how you'll be operating while consuming the fuel remaining in the tank, it can only go on how you're operating at a particular moment.

Deffo in Miles.
I had a GSA which estimated the range so I am used to how it works etc, the GS did approx. 320 to a tank, the trip never claimed 500 miles in the tank :)

The ES/'14 fuel range seems to work the same as 'er indoors Alfa Mito, I pinched it for a schlep to Sheffield and I started it with a full tank and a 300mile range, got there with 560mile range :) the M'way consumption increased its theoretical range considerably (averaging 75mpg drafting Artics) . It seemed to use a short average of dynamic fuel consumption, which sounds like Yamaha is doing the same (as a have an 1st ed my S10 doesn't have this luxury feature )

Yea I recon you're right, where as the GS does a longer term est rather than the current consumption plus a few litres. :D
