First post here. Found the forum by searching for Teneres. Currently own a 2013 Tiger 800XC that I am looking to trade in for a leftover 2013 Tenere. I have been reading what some people are getting for deals for leftover inventory and I am in the hunt as well. So far I have contacted three dealers with great advertised prices but when I get all the details, its not such a great deal. They all are including the yamaha incentives in the deal which really doesn't make it a deal. Latest one was listed for $11,198, no mention of incentives in the ad. They want to add on a $690 dealer fee, plus ttt. When asking about the incentives, they say they are included at that price. So...11198 + 1200 + 690 = 13088. Add in tax of 7% and title and now its close to $14k.

So what are people really getting for deals and how do I go about getting a deal? I am thinking $12k OTD with TTT should be doable, am I far off?

Thanks
Cory

I was at $11,300 before tax/license, which was $12,500 OTD.
I did not pay freight/setup.

BTW, I came from an 800XC and haven't looked back. You'll love the Super Tenere.

Did you get the $1200 accessory credit and the extra year of warranty being offered by Yamaha with that pricing?

I picked up a '12 for $11499 but no sales tax because of my trade. I got $1200 in accessories and the extra year of YES. The only fee was a $75 dock fee, whatever the heck that is. I picked up three additional years of YES for 300 bucks as well.

I paid $11400 out the door, with $1200 in accessories and 2 year YES. There is white one on eBay for $10999 in MN. I think they will ship.

Well I still have to go do a test ride and talk to the dealer but the price that was quoted to me was $11770 + 8.5% tax plus freight and assembly and paperwork and licensing comes to 15k otd. This also includes the $1200 Yamaha credit.

For a 2013 leftover?

Cory, you thought about picking up a used 2012 for $8 or 9K? With reliability being one of the key selling points of this machine, why not consider a bike with 15 or 20K miles on it? It's just getting broken in. You might even find one that is nicely farkled already.

I have thought about it, but I want the warranty. Funds are not really the issue. I do have a budget but I won't over spend on something I feel is overpriced. I am looking for something in the $12k-$12.5k range OTD with the $1200/2year deal. It seems the dealers would rather let them sit then pass along the incentives to the customer.

I have never done the fly and ride deal, although I would be open to the buy and ship deal just not sure how secure/safe that is. Anyone ever bought a bike unseen and had it shipped?

That's exactly how I got my S10. I live in DFW area and bought the bike from a guy in SLC, UT. I was lucky in that I have a buddy that lives in SLC, so he handled the cash and title for me. He even shipped it for me. But I never saw the bike until it arrived.

On a related note - one of the key selling features of this bike is that they are as reliable as an anvil. Even with the abuse I have lathered onto mine, it just keeps begging for more. Given a used S10 has been reasonably maintained (dealership service records?), should be safe to buy sight unseen.

To be fair, if I didn't have a buddy in SLC, not sure I would have gone through with the deal. I didn't like the idea of a total stranger having my cash, the title and the bike. More likely than not, everything would have turned out fine. But there is some risk.

Sounds like a private deal? What if it was a dealer? Considering an out of state dealer deal and have them ship it. Cheaper than what I can get locally.

Added 5 yr YES with ZERO ded, $12800 OTD. TTL not included since I bought out of state. Nice surprise, dealer gave me $100 gift card for accessories.

Seven weeks ago I purchased a new '13 ST for $10,500 plus tax/title/license. I got the $1200 in Yamaha accessories and the extra 1 year of YES included in this price. Dealer was Lee's in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Ask for Derrick or Mark. I bought the only one in stock, but they may be able to find you another one. Also try Neuhaus Cucles in Litchfield, Ill. They had a few '13's when I was shopping in the $11,500 range. You should NOT be paying "freight/setup" charges on a bike, especially a hold over model.

Good luck and good hunting!

Thanks, thats the kind of pricing I am expecting. I have seen prices close to that locally but they dont want to give up the incentives. Just had one quote me $12,675 OTD including 7% tax, title, tag. That includes the incentives. Best I have done locally. Dealer said he is giving it away at that price too...

Niehaus Cycles had 3 2013 leftovers when you were shopping for yours, but they sold the last one this week. They have 3 pre owned 2012's though, from $9499 to $9999.
