Anyone see the new 2013 Husky TR650 Terra? 2 versions, a street (Strada) and Dual sport (Terra) version. Pretty nice bike and priced at a very reasonable 6999.00 considering the closest "BMW" logo'ed bike is 8600.00 and nowhere near the same type of components suspension wise. Bullet proof Rotax engine and has about 20% more horsepower than the BMW. Husky rated at 58hp.

Uses lots of quality BMW components, ABS avail, and the accessories that are going to be avail are going to make it one heck of a bike. Got a chance to sit on one at my buddy's dealership, Toytech in Grantville PA. Heck of a guy. Discounts everything regardless of who you are or where you bought your bike. (small plug)...He is getting a demo bike in and I plan on giving it a nice once over. I like it to date.

That bike looks promising for a TAT ride. I can see a Kreiger overlander mounted with alittle spare fuel and enuff gear to be happy. Should be reliable but dealer network scares me. Closest dealer to me is Atlanta. Unless BMW is going sell parts. Our BMW parts department here in Nashville dosen't have the best reputation.

Glad to see a new FI Dual Sport in the mix. Unfortunately it is much more street oriented than the prior offering. It is also very heavy in comparison. I was very excited till I saw some of the specifics. On the plus side the BMW engine/FI system gets phenomenal fuel economy, hopefully that part is intact.

400lbs. is heavy but i don't ride single track so for rides like the CDT, TAT i think it would work. I may be weird but a light bike wears me out faster than my Tenere. That is as long as i don't have to pick it up more than a few times a day. Now if Yamaha would give us the fuel injected wr450 with its weight closer to 300lbs. we would really have something to get excited about.

Picked it up last Saturday. Only have a little over 300 miles on it. So far so good.

Good looking bike. Congrats on your new purchase. ::008::

What do you think of the power now after 300 miles on her?

I am trying to keep it under 5,000 RPM for the first 600 miles. It will run 75 mph at 5,000 RPM so I can keep up with traffic.

The engine is very smooth and pulls well down low. It does not seem underpowered at all.

Cafe Husky has a TR650 thread. There is also a TR650 thread on ADVrider in "Thumpers".

I will not hijack the thread.....
But gotta say it is hard to top the WR250R for that "second" bike.

"Bullet proof Rotax engine " ?

I'm pretty sure these engines are made in China so the reliability factor is yet to be proven. ::017::

I've only had one Rotax engine. It was in a Can Am Sypder. Never had an engine so unreliable. All the issues were due to the over engineered electronic stuff on the engine. Not sure, but I blame the Sypder engineers and not necessarily the Rotax engine, which I know is very respected in the ultra-light world.

Had a Rotax engine on my aprilia futura. And loved it. Best bike I had, if it were not for all the Italian plastic in it.

Back in the day I had a Rotax engine in my 1982 CanAm Sonic 500 dirt bike. A real POS. Thats only 31 years ago. Have they improved? :(
