I paid $12,500, $12,700 out the door for a ordered 2013 in the matte color I wanted. So far keeping the break in period under 3500 rpm, I love this bike. I have ordered a Madstad bracket, Wolfman duffel, skid plate and crash bars and am still way under a 2014. Though I contemplated the 2014 extras, I think I made the correct choice. Coming from a FZ8, this Tenere is a great bike. Don't fret on what you buy, the first generation are great bikes.

From what I have read about the new Tenere, the new electronic ride modes are not an improvement...
Do you have sources? because everything i've read has been the opposite. Plus my own personal experience going from a 2012 to a 2014 the suspension is heads and tails above what it was.

I think the most recent review was in Motorcycle Consumer News. They liked the new one, but made a comment that for the money the standard suspension would be the one he would buy. I am not an "Early Adopter"; not opposed to new tech, just not quick to jump on board. With the standard suspension, if you suffer a broken wire or a loose connector or a computer failure your suspension will turn into a soild brick. I have read of a couple of failures with either the Multistrada or the new GS, and the bike cannot be ridden normally as the suspension goes into a very stiff default mode. I've only has my Tenere a short time, but I like the standard suspension.

So I may end up going with the 13 leftover. I a going back and they offered me a deal I am finding hard to refuse. So good I am not supposed to say because it's below cost... Well below. He wants the floor space. The thing I am finding hard to refuse is the deal includes the full extended warranty and with my life last thing I need are unexpected expenses. I will bepassing on the farkled and will do that later as cash allows, but gotta get what works for me. YMMV

I just picked up a '13 (taking delivery tomorrow) for a killer deal AND it included $1200 in goodies from Mama Yama. Got the bike for 2/3 of what list was and got to put on the 12th mile on the machine on my test ride. Great buy on a great bike...SHOP around, there are REAL deals out there!!
