No but it does make "a vibrant off road image" which it seems is the thing a lot of people buy them for, Just like the SUV / Soft roader market.dcstrom said:"vibrant off-road styling" does not a vibrant off-roader make...
That's great Graham, but I don't geddit. Can't you simplify, make it look a bit more like this?GrahamD said:[DIRTY END] .....KTM990.....S10...GSA..GS....................MTS........XDRESSER.TRIUMPH 1200.VERSYS1000................................R1..[STREET END]
And these are the bikes that will actually be taken off road on average..
Always[.................KTM.......S10.....................................GSA........................VERSYS1000.....MTS..TRIUMPH 1200..XDRESSER.......GS........R1.] Never
Now we can start arguing about the points, dots, get it....
Oh no, not again!!GrahamD said:Just Kidding Ernst... ;D
Since it has about the same equipment and is based on the VFR, there is little reason not to think it won't be priced like the VFR - around $16K with ABS but without bags or DCT.Mellow said:Time will tell, the pricing is also an issue, if this thing is going to be $20k, it will be a flop IMO.
I just have the wrong body, I'm afraid. My legs are so long and my torso so short, that the ST13 is terrible for me. I want to slide all the way forward, just to reach the bars, but when I do that, my shins press into the fairing lowers all the way down. I can't relax because the curved bodywork slides my knees apart as I press forward, and worst of all, my size 43 feet won't reach the shift lever with my shins in the fairing like that. If I sit back a few inches, the angles change and I can reach the shifter (barely), but then I can't reach the bars. I end up having to take my left foot off the footpeg, wrap my leg around the outside of the fairing, and poke my toe at the shifter from outside the fairing. Terrible! The ST1100 had a little of this issue, which is why I never bought one even though I like them. I was hoping it would be improved on the ST1300 but instead, it was worse.Mellow said:I like my ST1300, it's a keeper, smooth as silk a 300 mile range and comfortable, with a diff seat of course.. LOL
From all I've read I have to agree.Paulvt1 said:An interview with the XTour project leader in MCN today states that the team behind the bike were looking at a "fun touring" platform for the new V4 motor. I think the ADV style was just a by product of current thinking. They say they have concentrated on getting much more bottom end and midrange out of the VFR12 motor. Should be good fun on the twisties - but i don't think it'll be in the same league as the S10 for rough stuff.
How can it be an oxymoron if you're saying that adventure and touring go together?elizilla said:* I consider "adventure touring" to be an oxymoron, because all my tours are adventures! Why would I take a boring tour?
