This is my plan on how to make my ST better. A 20 pound bike to help lose 20 pounds of weight (mine). This should help the performance of both the rider and the ST. I ran across this on "Nextdoor" and got it for the really great price, especially compared to a brand new one. Being a Specialized Allez 2008 triple, it has less than 100 miles on it. A quick wash and wax to get the dust off, along with some WD-40 on some of its joints and it's ready to go. It will be getting some farkling consisting of new clip in pedals and an upgraded seat. The tires are not showing any signs of age via cracking or dryness. I might replace the brake pads and inner tubes.

20 years ago (more of that 20) was the last time I rode a pedal bike. This will now become part of my daily exercise routine along with a commute or two to work. When I was riding before, my average evening after work ride was 20-40 miles. Weekend rides were a bit longer. Even rode up Mt Evans to the top (14,271 ft) 3 times one year. I did the Evergreen side twice and the Idaho Springs side once. What can I say, I like hills. Though I am on a rower a couple times a week, I have already noticed that riding a bicycle is going to be using different muscles. I only did about a mile after the cleaning and noticed some soreness in new areas. This will be a fun addition to the stable.

@14kmtnman - Best of luck on hitting your goal. I bicycle commuted for a few years. 25 miles a day, 5-6 days a week and weekend Mtb rides on road & single track of 10-40 miles. Didn't lose any weight, but my cardio was great and my body mass leaned down in the legs a lot. Traded fat for muscle. I did not alter my diet. I wasn't really trying to lose weight, though at 240 lbs then, it wouldn't have hurt me to have tried.

Cyrus - Glad you made it thru that. That is a little bit better way to go. My wife had to have both. The Triple by-pass we're talking about is a bike ride that goes over Squaw Pass, Loveland Pass and Vail Pass. This year, I see they are making it a 2 day ride. Day 1 goes west over the above 3 passes, Day 2 in back east over the same 3.
